This is a common problem with older Philip Magnavox projection sets. Over time one of the IC chips on the main power board begins to fail. You can find replacment chips and repair instructions on www.magnavoxhelp.com.

Basically one removes the underside cover to access the memory modules. Then remove the modules by releasing/uncliping them at each side.

They will pop right out. Now align the cutouts and insert the modules pushing them downwards into position.

How to remove front panel top loader

If the rear sensor stays on, you could have a miss aligned sensor. Check to make sure it is not pointed downward.

Something similar happened to me when I had done a quick align. I asked the scope to go to the moon, which was obviously visible above the horizon but it pointed downwards. I found out that I had entered the date (month day year) in the wrong order (day month year - as is common in Sweden). Just a long shot...

Toshiba 42H82 convergence problem


Replace STK convergence IC's w/OEM or better parts.Senior tech soldering ability needed. Ex==Steel jumper wires feeding b+ to conv. IC's need resolder to prevent call-back.Also, best re-alignment done in service mode==consult service literature.
