My Floppy, CD ROM, and Tape Drive do not respond to inserted media - Gateway 4000847 Quad Xeon Processor Server Motherboard - Windows 2000 Pro NT sees CD & Floppy

Considering this is three different devices it means that there is a problem with the way the IDE and parallel device are connecting to the OS.
I would try removing the cables for 2 of the devices, then uninstall the remain device driver and reboot letting the device reinstall.
Once reinstalled test again, this may isolate the issue at the very least and could get one of the device up and running.

Mike

I am attempting to upgrade an x3650 7979, currently running a duo core to a quad core. The machine turns on, the fans go into overdrive, but the machine won't run a post nor boot. I have looked at the...

Duo core motherboards will not support the bus speed or the power output to power on that processor. You need to upgrade the motherboard with the new processor.

We need To Install Another Processor But The 2nd Slot Doesn't Work To new one That Work In the other slot

hi,
Welcome to Fixya
By the way have you purchased the VRM module . If you are about to upgrade the server with second processor you should have VRM also . Without VRM , the second process wouldn't work and it will light out amber LED(Orange) . Now If you have VRM then just swap the processor and check. That is check whether the second processor works while insert it in first processor slot. If it works then it relates to motherboard issue .

Thanks

I installed a e5430 xeon processor into an xw8400 workstation and now it does not want to boot up.

maybe your system needs a bios upgrade before it runs with the cpu... happened to me once too, although with a different system. Give it a shot.

I would like to know can I put windows 2008 server on this server? if I can where Can I get all the driver to support it?

Server 2008 is still relatively new.

Whilst quite a bit of hardware is already supported with 2008 out of the box I would suggest doing an upgrade install with 2003 as a base.
The last server upgrade I did took a similar route and even though much of the hardware was not listed in the compatibility report It did work fine.

From what I understand (and some of the ms bulletins can be hard to follow) some drivers seem to carry over with like a backward compatibility.

If the server is not in use yet you could always get the trail version from MS just to test the theory.

Generally servers are not as picky as a regular desktp OS about a lot of the hardware.

Cant boot celestica with 2 processors

Try upgrading the BIOS on the motherboard first. Then make sure that the CPU's match completely. Failing that, try to boot of each processor in socket 0, then socket one.

That will tell you whether its a processor issue or a MB / firmware problem.

Erorr 805 processor not supported

Hi,
Is your server under carePAQ/ support by HP.
Please go to the System Settings/BIOS of the server by pressing F9 while booting. Check for error messages.

Please check for the processor support matrix also. You may want to try upgrading the motherborad firmware berfore loading this proc.

Cheers,
