Try hooking up the external monitor to it first to see if the external monitor shows the same symptom.
Are you getting green cast on the whole screen?

Green screen

Sounds like your hard drive may be faulty. Run the manufacturers free hard drive diagnostic software (from CD or USB drive to test)

Suddenly my screen turned red and green with vertical lines all over.

Sorry but there is no easy way to find out except by parts swapping.
It could be the Screen, the connecting cable, or the graphics card (which on most laptops is actually part of the motherboard so not separately replaceable). If you can connect it to an external monitor or TV screen then that might eliminate the motherboard.

I was in facebook playing farmville, when suddenly the screen of my new laptop(toshiba satellite A660/07R)hung.i have no choice rather to power it off. when i switch back on,the screen flashes different...

With an extensive use of the notebook,
some times notebook would store some static charges which
indeed will stop the notebook from powering up or charging
the battery. The procedure to remove this static charges from
the notebook is known as power drain. Performing a power
drain procedure will not effect any personal data or delete
any pictures from the hard drive on your notebook.
I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these
steps:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

Screen went green.

Check all the pins at both ends of th cable first, also try it on another PC just to be sure it is not the video card in the PC problem.

MY DELL 1525 TURNS ON AND THE NORMAL BLUE SCREEN APPEARS. THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT GOES BRIGHT GREEN, THEN BRIGHT YELLOW, AND STAYS BRIGHT YELLOW

Hello,
Please connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the output is the same. If it displays fine on the monitor, then we are looking at either a screen cable problem or a screen problem. If the display is the same as on the laptop, then it is a problem with the display adapter on the mother board.

All the best.

None of the solutions in the forums work, at least they didn't work for me. I finally got the solution from Lenovo support. You need the hotkey driver from their website. Download it here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-38953

Follow the instructions on the above site to run hotkey\setup.exe and reboot, and you will have your on-screen displays back!
