Question about Panasonic PT-44LCX65 Television
Cleaned the entire TV, didn't find any filters but message persists and TV shuts off after a few minutes. How do you reset air filter and /or get rid of message???? Any ideas???
There are indeed 2 air filters on the light engine. To clean these, it is necessary to open up the television's back lower panel, remove an electrical component, then slide out the projection unit (you must be very careful - this is over $600 to replace if you break it). The air filters are pretty easy to clean...I used gentle strokes from a soft bristle hobby paintbrush and blowing (I wouldn't recommend using a can of compressed air for this...these filters are somewhat fragile). Dust out the rest of the unit pretty good (use EXTREME caution when doing this). Then put everything back together, and then you have to go through the re-alignment procedure. You can obtain the technical service manual on the Internet...sorry, but I can't help you find it...I am not sure about the legal/copyright ramifications of distributing the manual w/o Panasonic's permission...but its out there...Google is your friend. I would NOT attempt this repair without this manual...it contains crucial diagrams, and "gotcha" warnings (like what order to tighten screws for example). This isn't a hard repair if you just take the time to prepare, move slowly and methodically, and don't be in a rush. Good Luck!
