Question about LG CHOCOLATE VX8500 Cellular Phone
My son came home tonight and said he dropped then stepped on his phone. There is no damage to the outside, but there is black background with "crack lines" shooting up from the bottom of the screen with only 1 reaching the top and the others spreading out.
Can this be repaired? If so, can you tell me where I can purchase the parts/instructions.
PS. This is it not under warranty :(
Val9494 - As deepakonly stated, the phone will have to be replaced. How much that costs, however, depends on which carrier you have.
Verizon Wireless will replace the phone for a $50 fee, which can be done in any full service store.
AT&T, last I heard, it's about $115, and will also (I'm 99% sure) replace it in the store.
Sprint, I honestly don't know what they charge, but I'm pretty sure they don't replace phones in their retail outlets anyway and have to ship you a new one.
As general note - you would most likely get charged the carrier's replacement fee for a cracked display whether the phone is in warranty or not. Remember that warranty only covers manufactuer's defects, which doesn't include things like cracked displays :(
