my computer does not recognize my mp3 player i have no software on it. is there anything online that i can download to make this work or do i need the cd rom software
Of course you don't need the disk that ships with it. Google or Dogpile or whatever for JVC software for your model and find a trustable site, like a site of JVC's; grab and install the software. For example, the stuff behind http://www.jvc-victor.co.jp/english/download/dap/xa-mp51_mp101/firmware_licence.html
It's something of a surprise that the thing doesn't mount as a flash drive as it is, which should be sufficient for loading it up with MP3s. Then again, it's no prize piece of electronics on the whole.

I cannot get the player to read the files... So, I have downloaded WMA MP3s to the device using the sync feature. It syas they are writing to the player on both the WMA display and the MP3 display. None of the files have been ripped from the internet, they are all copies from the cd's which I bought over various years. What I get is this. It constantly says NO FILES TO DISPLAY. But here is the weird thing. I go to the device menu in My Computer, and I open the display for the device and it says all the songs are on there. I go to the device menu in WMP and it says all the files are on there as well. When I go to the ABOUT menu on the MP3 player itself, it says that there is disk space being taken up by the files. But, on the MUSIC and DELETE potions of the MP3 player menu, it says there are no files there whatsoever. At the original opening screen it says there no files there either. WMA is copying the songs to the player at 128 kbps. I am getting no error messages, and it says the songs are there in every way except for in the playlists. Has anyone run into this before?
