I just got warcraft and wanted to play a multiplayer game over my local area network. My problem is that when i make the game it can't be seen on the other computer and vice versa.I can play other games like starcraft , red alert on my network just fine also i tested the connection through direct x and that too works fine.please help me.
P.S. I am running windows Xp SP2
Do you use a firewall?
If yes, have you tried it while your firewalls are deactivated (on both computers)? If it works with the deactivated firewall, find out whether the firewall prevents the application from using the network (unlikely) or whether it prevents specific ports from being used.
Without any applications running, start a cmd window.
Type "netstat -a" (without the quotes).
Now start Warcraft and create a new LAN game (server).
Start a second cmd window, type "netstat -a".
The new server should now be visible as one or more "LISTENING" entries.
If not, Warcraft may not be working properly.
You may also have to create you game in a different way from when you create a game for the internet.
