I have the whirlpool Duet 9150 with the same issue. I removed, reseated and reconnected every connector at least 4 times with the same random result of F06 to the point where it no longer finished the load. I then removed the motor control board again and sprayed it down with electronic cleaner along with all connections by disconnecting them , spraying them down and then reconnect and connected a few times to ensure good contact. I then tried again and the F -06 code came back. I then ordered the board for $ 150 online . When the new board arrived 4 days later, my wife tried the washer one more time and it worked. I have performed over 2 dozen loads . The board was never replaced. It appeared that spraying the board and connectors worked.

An explanation of your error code can be found at the following link:

In a nut shell, usually one of the motor windings fails, causing the Drive Motor to not rotate at the correct rpm, or not at all. Or, the Motor Control Unit fails. Both are simple repairs and can be accomplished by the average do-it-yourselfer. If you wish to attempt this repair, let me know and I can give you the steps required to complete it.

These parts can be found at Just type in your model number and look under the "Pump and Motor Parts" heading on the next page. The MCU will be listed as item number 1 (part #8181693). The Drive Motor is listed as item number 16 (part #8182793). You can also try,, and for comparative pricing. If you require further assistance, please let me know.

There are two problems with the F06 code ---- Control Unit may be bad or the motor try cleaning the connections first that posted above -- the motor costs around 186.00 and the control board costs around 206.00 at a service tech will clean board first and charge for a motor -- be careful

I had this error and after taking the back panel off and checking all the connections I looked all over, looking for the obvious. The obvious is exactly what I found. One if the stabilizing arms was separated. After lifting and sliding the two half's together I plugged the machine in and ran it through a cycle. FIXED! There are 4 stabilizer arms under the drum that keep the drum balanced. Putting too many clothes in the drum can cause it to go off balance while spinning causing the drum to bounce around like crazy. Hope this helps. 15 minutes and zero $ spent on repairs.

I've been having the same problem with my Duet Washer. I first unplugged and replugged all the connectors back in. That worked for a couple of loads then the F06 Code came back. So I figure if I replace the Motor it would do the trick...not so much! Then I thought I'd order the wire harness from the Motor to the MCU and replace it...aaaaaand NO LUCK still F06 COde. Now I'm left with replacing the MCU. I'll order it this week and see what happens. Stay tuned...

did it fix the problem? I'm experiencing the same problem here. I'll probably go MCU first.

What is error code F06

The "F06" fault code indicates a drive motor error. This means the control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down.

Error Code 01 F06

Your fault is mentioned here.

An F06 fault code in a Whirlpool Duet washer (the Kenmore HE3/4t's are also made by Whirlpool) usually means a motor-related problem. It usually pops up when the drum won't rotate at all or only very sluggishly. Here's the excerpt from the Whirlpool Duet Service Manual on this:

Whirlpool Duet Sport Model WFW8300SW0 basket won't

The following list of codes indicates an electronics communication problem with the washer: - Duet HT washer - F01, F03, F06, F11, F23, F24, F27, F28, F29, F30, F31, F32, F35, F42, F61, F62, F63, F64, F65, F70, F71, and F99

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug washer or disconnect power for one minute.
  2. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, call for service.

I would first replace the door latch/lock assembly, a number of users have and it fixed the F-11 error code completely. Its the cheapest part for this problem.

Hope helps.

I am greeting a flashing code of F06 as in goes into spin cycle and it stops running.

The F06 code will indicate a drive motor tachometer error. This means the control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If the failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door will unlock after 3 minutes.
The error code F06 is likely a loose connection in the harness between the motor and the (MCU) or between the (MCU) and the (CCU). It could also be the tachometer circuit in the motor or an intermittent internal component connection within the (MCU). Since the (CCU) has already been replaced, the failure is likely a loose harness connection or the (MCU). I recommend calling a service technician to check the connection.

Hope this helps.

Check wireharness connections between the drive motor/Techometer and the motor control unit also check between the motor control unit and the central control unit.
