This is a 10 meter radio & is factory tuned to 29 MHz. If you are using it on CB the receiver should be retuned to 27.205 Mhz by a competent tech. Most dealers who modify & peak these radios never tune the receiver.

Listen for hiss from the speaker...check it with a analogue multi-

meter by touching solder tags by holding one probe on a tag and touch the other probe should hear a scratching sound = Working. next..every solder joint has to be checked for dry joints working outwards from the flying leads ( i simply resolder and that often will cure the problem as cb rabio is subject to they are also in a hostile inviorment ) i also replace electro caps that are small value in uF as through heat in a truck the electrolite dries up and the cap no longer functions. The good news is that 98% of parts in older sets a freely available in 2008 from electronic parts stores but not the few ICs . If you set is 27 meg with USB LSB it is worth a rebuild

but it can be costly if done by service personal. not shift the position of trinpots or tuning slugs without marking their factory set positions so you will be able to return them to the same position. in the case of active component failure it is not often an untrained person can repair a CB.. also it requires

bench test gear that would cost more than any CB is worth NOTE.. there are any number of faults that will cause loss of CB

functions and before you can be told ,the fault has to be found.

Why does the mic attachment on my cb radio cause receiving & output problems?

did the radio do well at the cb shop you took it to? when you re-installed it in your vehicle did you change the coax? You may think about taking it to another shop for a second opinion as to whether or not the radio was actually tuned.

Problem no squelch noise or speaker like its muted, but can hear weather ok shows receiving and ant ok

Since the radio cannot transmit on Weather bands, there is no need for the radio to detect if it is transmitting when receiving weather.
In CB mode (on CB channels) the radio will mute when transmitting. So... a guess is that it is muting, or transmitting all the time in CB mode. Check for a mic problem by removing the Mic from the radio ... if it receives CB with no mic connected, then there is an issue with the mic. Otherwise, unless the unit is in PA mode (public address mode) it is likely something internal and beyond the scope of this service.

My cb radio is saying its transmitting and receiving but when I put out for radio check I'm getting no reply and don't think anybody can pick me up

Can you hear anyone on the CB? Does anyone actually use CB these days.

Check the connections to the antenna. Did you tune the antenna with a SWR meter?

TRC-481 No sound

test the internal speaker to see that sound is indeed getting to it.Hook an external speaker to it and see if that just may have to change the speaker but it could be more than that. Do thisfor now then repost as to what you did and whether it worked or not because there is more problems and they are internal. Just go with this for now and if it doesn't work you may have to get it to a tech to repair it.

Limited cb radio range on Kenworh t800 truck

I recall problems grounding the antenna on those kw's. May want to try a no ground antenna. Also the stock coax that comes with the truck sometimes gets broken or pinched. Go to a good shop, replace the cheap coax and grount the antennas.
