Question about GE PDW8680NSS Built-in Dishwasher
We bought our GE PDW8680NSS dishwasher a few months ago after admiring the floor model. For the most part I'm very happy with it, but there is one quirk that is driving me crazy... whenever you open the door to the dishwasher, the top rack automatically slides out several inches. I can't stand it. I want it to stay where it is inside the machine unless I pull it out. The floor model we looked at didn't do that, and if it had I never would have bought the thing. Is there any way I can stop the top rack from automatically sliding out? The bottom rack stays in place like it should. Thanks!
This is actually a feature to allow the user easy access of sliding out the top rack. A look at the parts diagram disclosed that there is no mechanism activating this and therefore could be assumed to be gravity driven. It would stop a few inches due to the action or rather inaction of the rollers which would require user intervention (pull).
The only modification I could think of is to change how the inner rails are attached by inclining it to prevent the sliding out. The idea would be to lean in the upper rack to prevent gravity from sliding it out. Am not sure if inclining the entire dishwasher would affect the overall performance but it is also a possibility.
I have taken the liberty of including the diagram of the upper track should you wish to reference it.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
