Since that it crashed, it is more practical that you reformat it, rather than buying new one. it is the system crashed not the whole hard disk and there is a great chance of reviving it , you have the recovery disk with you, then better use it than buying.

have a nice day

Why does my acer aspire laptop have a black screen?

This could be a failing hard drive or failing RAM. The easiest and cheapest fix is the RAM. replace your RAM with some new sticks. It is easy and a lot cheaper than a hard drive with Operating System re-install. Which could also mean a loss of personal data (photos and videos) When your computer is working, back up your personal data as soon as you are able.

Intel Rapid Technology off line hard drive?

Open the computer and check cables. 0 is the 1st drive and usually the primary. Then login into BIOS and verify the drive is listed there. It must be.
Crashing may be a sign of hardware failure, but fix the HD problem 1st. Then run chkdsk c: /f/r C being the drive letter from the command prompt.

I installed windows 7 on my lenovo g460. After installation It cannot boot from harddisk. The LED light of HDD is turn on when pc starts and as soon as it comes to boot device selection it becomes off.

First reseat the hard drive. Next make sure you have no USB or ESATA devices connected to the laptop as the system could be trying to boot from one of them. Another possibility is that the hard drive could have failed. (when you install an OS you put the hard drive through a lot more stress than you would during normal use. If the drive was on the verg of failing that could have pushed it over the edge). There are built in hard drive diagnostics that you can run. Consult your owners manual or the Lenovo support site for a how-to guide.

Dear User,
Good Day!
Please try to change your BIOS settings or CMOS setup... When your OS is Windows 7 then the HDD should be in AHCI properties then if XP it should be ATA properties. Also try to replace you RAM.

Thank you...

Here is what I do whenever I come across one that crashes. shuts down, freezes and what not. I clean out a lot of junk files, run scans, and clean the inside of the PC itself. all the unnecessary, temp internet files, and cookies (use disk cleanup, or if you have any other computer maintenance programs with one.) Check for viruses, spyware, malware, adware, and bots. They can run in the background and multiply their processing tasks, therefore hogging all your CPU and RAM and causing these issues. I suggest Spyware Doctor and/or Spyboy S&D, Kaspersky and/or Norton. You can get Spyware doctor for free by downloading it in the google pack (go to google and search google pack), and Spybot S&D is free. Another thing that can be done also is to clean the inside of your PC. You wouldn't believe how bad loads of dust and whatnot can affect a PC. I have taken computers that have had similar problems and opened them up and there was dust CAKED on the Motherboard, RAM, in the plugs, fans, and Hard Drives. I clean all of it out and it work 100% better. Dust can carry static charges and cause shorts in your hard ware, so it is important for best performance to keep your PC clean on the inside and in its files.

What is the largest hard drive that can be used to replace the current hard drive on a HP Compaq Pavilion a305w Desktop/PC

If you bought your PC at Wal-Mart, there are only IDE connections on the motherboard. You can go all the way to 1TB (1000GB) but you must find it in an IDE format. If that is too hard to find, Best Buy carries 500GB and 750GB IDE hard drives. This will also depend on the operating system installed. Windows XP and later will support almost any size HD granted you have the proper hardware and service pack updates

Toshiba processor problem

Maybe there's a hidden process. Use  Process Explorer to find it . Download it from  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx , unzip it and just run it.
If it doesn't show something out of the ordinary then check the hard drive using HD Tune - the free version - from http://www.hdtune.com/

Hard Drive Crashed

Does the laptop post at all? Does anything come on the screen? Might not be a dead hard drive. If it was you would still get into the bios etc.

IF it is the hard drive (unlikely) then u can buy an adapter to plug it into a desktop and if your lucky u may be able to recover data using something like active file recovery.

Have you tried plugging it into a monitor to see if its the screen thats failed?
