Question about Samsung Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I am trying to use my scanner for the 1st time and I scanned 24 pages which took quite a long time and at the end my computer advised that these pages are now sitting in c:\documents & settings\owner\my documents\my pictures\samsung\scan06262008_154431-24.BMP I looked at some & they are huge images and how do I access these so I can e-mail them off to someone? When I bought the unit it was all setup properly (May 22nd)No instruction manual came with the unit. bernice.joyce@shaw.ca

I guess that was the way the unit is setup and programmed. I expected to have the scanner setup to automatically send the documents directly into my e-mail, as this unit is in my home office and that would be the only place I would ever want them to go. Then I could forward them on very easily. I had to attach every page of the 24 pages separately into 3 e-mails. So I did accomplish the task. It would be nice to adjust it for future scans.

Thanks anyway:o)

I try to scan a document and it says that I am not set up on pc. I use just the scan button and it still won't scan. Help please!!!

Verify cables connected properly to the back of the scanner
If the scanner is a parallel port scanner it is likely it has two available connections on the back of the scanner. Verify that the cable coming from the computer is connecting to the IN, Computer IN, computer, or similar connection.
Ensure that the scanner is getting power
If your scanner is not getting power it is recommended that you check the connections ensuring that they are connected properly to the back of the computer and from the scanner to the wall. If you have the scanner connected to a power strip and or surge protector it is temporarily recommended that you connect the scanner directly to the wall.
If the computer scanner is getting power, you should notice the inside light come on when the power is first received by the scanner.
After checking the connections you still get no power to the scanner, it is recommended you contact the manufacturer of the scanner.
Additional parallel port scanner troubleshooting
If you have another device connected in between the scanner and the computer, turn off the computer and temporally disconnect the devices connected to or from the scanner. If, after disconnecting these devices, the scanner works, it is likely that another device may have issues or may be unable to work with other parallel devices.
PC Windows users verify no TSRs are running in the background
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and end task all currently running software except explorer and systray and attempt to scan again. If this resolves your issue it's a possibility that an application in the background such as a virus utility is preventing your scanner from scanning.
Verify the LPT port mode
PC users ensure that the LPT port mode within the computer BIOS is set to either EPP or bi-directional mode and/or try alternating between these two modes.
Update the drivers
Verify that the latest drivers are installed for the operating system being used on your computer. A listing of computer scanner manufacturers and links to the drivers pages can be found on our scanner drivers page.

Incomplete text, every other line is messed up.

  • If the scanner glass or the white scan background (the white portion of the lid) are dirty, the scan might be different than intended. A dirty scanner glass (fingerprints or smudges) slows down performance by as much as half a minute and affects scan quality. Performance slows because the product is actually processing the smudges on the glass. Turn off the product , and then clean the glass with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a nonabrasive glass cleaner. If there are visible contaminants under the scanner glass, the product must be sent in for servicing. You cannot remove the scanner glass to clean inside.
  • Reinitialize the scanner by turning off the product and unplugging the power cord. Make sure that all original documents are removed from the product and that the scanner glass on the product is clean. When the power is reconnected and the product is turned on, the scanner recalibrates.
  • The computer video driver and video settings might change the image appearance slightly. The product scans in 24-bit color. Setting the video display settings to less than 24-bit, or 24 million colors, results in a loss of color information on the computer monitor. The video driver might change the appearance of colors when viewed on the monitor.

    Scanner in use

close all the programs that are running and restart your computer. also turn off the scanner and disconnect it from the PC and power. plug it back after 5mins, reboot your computer, start the scanner program and reconnect the scanner. try to scan again. if it fails, disconnect the scanner and unistall the driver, there might be a conflict somewere. reboot your computer and reinstall the software then connect the scanner and try to scan again.

When scanning cuts off the end of the page.

sometimes, if you place the original legal size in the df, and the end of the paper (as if you just took it out of an envelope) doesn't quite lay all the way down, the sensors on the df will be tricked into thinking that the original is only letter size.

if this is the case, then, there should be about 3" cut off of the scan.
