SOURCE: Can't access drive from My Computer
Sometimes an additional drive doesn't show up because there is no free letter, especially if you are on a network. From Disk Management (right click on My Computer, Manage) if you see your drive there, try assigning it a letter. Or disconnect other drives that are mapped. Typically an external device wants to be "next" after your hard drive (usually c:) and CD-ROM (usually d:)

You can only format these drives in mode FAT16 or FAT32.
Try to format it in FAT32 mode and let Windows choose the default sectors for you. This is the better solution.
As I can see, the operating system recognise your drive that mean the correct driver was loaded.
After a new format whith the correct params if your flash drive shows the same thing 0 disk space 0 disk space used, your drive is DEAD.
It happens if you had unplug your flash drive whithout stoping it by cliking on the icon in the notification window (near the clock), the icon is mini drive whith a green arrow. Allways unplug the USB devices by this because you have the +5 voltage on this connector and if you don't do this an arcking effect happens betwen your device and the connector.

Hello stxman, the best thing to do is a "System Restore."
"Follow these instructions carefully!"
The first thing you want to do is click on the "Start Button."
Next, click on "All Programs."
Scroll to find "Accessories."
Now; select the "System Tools."
"You will see in the next window that open, "System Restore."
!Important, Once you click on the System Restore "shortcut."
"It will start to look for the "Last known time of a change in your computer."
ie. Toshiba Sleep Removal!
The System Restore, can take as long as a 1/2 an hour to run!
So; "Be Patient!"
!Warning: "Do not try to do any type of work, don't even touch the keyboard for any reason."
Once, the System Restore find: The correct {Date and Time}, of the event.
Coose the [Date] closest to the time of the 'occurrence'.
ie. Installed [Toshiba Sleep Removal Tool].
!Warning: There will be a message: "Do not to do any type of 'work, or have applications' running' on the Computer.
"The System Restore will "run" for awhile; denpending on 'how far back the restore need to 'search'!
The computer will then "Shutdown and Restart."
Lo-gin if you have to; but!
Do not touch the Keyboard once the Desktop window open.
"Because "System Restore" is still running.
Wait; until there is a message letting you know the {Restore of your System}, was successful!
"Please let me know if you 'need' further assistance, or the 'solution' helped? "By posting a 'Comment" or 'Rating' the solution. Thank you; your 'response' is important to me!" paul7of9
