I have owned a Dynex surge protector (model Te685avr) for almost 6 years now. Two days ago I was out of the house and we lost power for an hour. When I came back my computer had shut down.
What I assumed happened is that while I was gone my backup power on the Dynex surge protector ran out.
The problem I have now is the 3 outlets on the side that are powered by "backup power" don't work. I have unplugged all the cords going into the unit for a whole day to charge the unit but I still cant get the outlets on the "backup" side of the surge protector to work. The 3 outlets on the otherside work just fine, but they are not backed up with power.
Any suggestions to get the other 3 to work, they have no power running to them?
It almost certain that the batteries need to be replaced. Here's a link to someone who carries those batteries: http://www.batteryinternational.com/dynex-te685avr-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html

If the battery outlets do not work, typically the Dynex TE685AVR UPS (battery backup) just needs a new battery. These batteries usually last 3-5 years.
The model of the battery is a WKA12-7.5F2 and can be purchased at: http://www.replacementupsbattery.com/Product_pages/wka12-75f2.html.
Ok, I did some research and the Dynex TE975AVR uses two WKA12-5F batteries. I believe the originals were 12v 4.5ah, but these are now obsolete. The new batteries are 100% compatible and will give a slightly longer runtime.

The sealed batteries in these last about 6 years. You are correct in thinking that you may need a new one. Very easy to install. Here's a supplier of these: http://www.batteryinternational.com/dynex-te685avr-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html

Same problem with a TE975AVR -- 3 outlets work, 3 do not (the ones backed up) -- Guess I'll try a new battery??
On second thought - this is not the right battery -- good luck finding one for the TE975AVR.................
same prob, 3 outlets dont work, great info on this page though, very helpful, when even bestbuy's page couldn't help, thats where i bought them
I have had problems with the battery also, and now no power light and only 3 of 6 plugins work, they are on the other side, not on the battery side. No good to me this way. Wiring fault light is not on. This happened after we had a power outage.
