Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? Ifnot then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED lightstays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder jointwhere it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.
well it seems to be a problem on going i tryed to find out but i cant seem to find the problem, now i got to keep doing all the methods that techiesguru posted bout the static but now it seems that i have to do this everytime,, no the light dont come on at all if its just pluged in and not powered on no lights, if i turn it on yes the charger light blinks and the power and hd lights are on as well... but no charge to the battery
From your description of your problem and the power hard disk LED lights are on, then I think the problem is in the charging circuit inside the laptop.
OR
The problem could be the battery.
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all.
OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time.
If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
ok but heres the problem, the charger light dont show it charging with the laptop on unless its powered on .. and even then its just blinking the charge light.. yet no icon showing charge just the battery symbol showing the battery .. but like i said i dont understand.. y its doing this
ok here is wats happening..
the battery wont charge
if i take the battery out it wont work without the charger and the battery.. i dont even get a light blinking
when it does work with the battery and the charger both on it shows its not charging,
now if i wiggle the cord it does no difference
and constantly i got to do the static release trick that i read on here a lil while ago..
ok let me ask u this then.. is the hp g20-213wm dc jack soderd or is it just a pin jack i plug into the board if iw as to get a replacement jack i seen a few on ebay but they are saying with harnest and i m not sure if it still has to be sodered if so i aint good enough to do that part.. i dont trust my self sodering the board but if its just plug and play pin set then i can do it my self wat do u think can u help me on this part then and thanks for the advice
I have pulled quire a few laptop apart and have not found one that has the power socket with a plug in harnest assembly, they were all are soldered on the circuit board.
I have not the chance to pull apart a HP G60 laptop and cannot tell you if the power socket is on a harnest.
Before you junk this laptop, I suggest you do the following.
Reseat the RAM modules - remove and insert them back a few times to make sure they make proper contact.
Do the same with the CPU chip - this requires removing the fan and hear sink assembly.
Best of luck, I'm out of further suggestions.
thanks geek man for the help... i did take out the modules and i cant seem to find a way to get the case open... i found all the screws i can find but yet i cant get the thing apart in the back side towards the hinge.. maybe u can help me find a tutorial on to opening this case
These WEB sites may assist you, the HP WEB site was hopeless for a service manual.
Try these sites, the power socket does require soldering onto the motherboard.
