Question about Apple MP3 & Digital Media Players

Ipod not recognised by computer

Hi

Recently whenever I try to connect my ipod to a computer using the USB cable it does not seem to be recognised in both my computer as an external drive or in itunes.

I have tried on various computers (including 2 macs) and using a different cable. I have also done the ipod reset and then tried again but still no luck.

Any ideas on what to do?

Thanks, Chris.

Try this: (I found it here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=199220 )
Go to iTunes Preferences and in the iPod section, ensure that Enable Disk Usage is checked.

Things to do:

- Try connecting the iPod in to different USB ports of the computer.
- Try different USB cable for iPod. If the same problem occur...
- Try connecting your iPod in to diff. computer and see if the computer will recognize the iPod. If connecting it to diff computer gives the same result, then the storage portion of the iPod is no longer working. Send the iPod to Apple Store and see if they could still fix it.

Thank you!

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

Hi,

Try connecting this ipod to rear USB port on your desktop computer and then try this out

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step
It should work fine

It could be that the interface on the IPod is bad or the IPod cable is bad. I would try another cable to see if that fixes the problem.

You should try connecting the iPod to a different computer and see if it works. If it doesn't work, you should try connecting with a different USB cable if you can get a hold of one. One of the two should be your problem (a defective USB port on the computer or a defective iPod USB cable).

ITunes closes when I put in iPod

Try checking for ipod for any corrupted files. If you use P2P software to "pirate" music, try deleting those files. Also try a different usb port, and if you are using a hub, plug directly into the computer.....which Mac do you have btw?

Hope this helps.
