Question about Microsoft ZUNE JS8BRPBDLUG MP3 Player
I messed up and dropped my zune in the toilet. Some one Help!!!
You can try this, but since it has been awhile since it happened there is not much you can do to help it now. First remove any type of power to the unit, batteries, plug to the wall ect. Sometimes you can take the equipment apart, remove as much as you can safely and pat the wet areas with a dry slim towel or any other way that will remove moisture and not break and internal parts, and then right away use a blow dryer to evaporate any remaining moisture. Make sure you do not melt any plastic parts. If you have the proper chemical's you could clean the board, but that would really take a professional to do.
After that let it sit out in a safe area and if possible with some ventilation to it. Wait until the next day and then put it back together and give it a try. if you see any smoke at all, or hear any unusual sounds coming from it (popping, crackling ect.) turn it off and forget about it.
If it does start to work, it may not last long. Once the copper circuit traces and the metal leads get contaminated with moisture they will continue to oxidize even after cleaning them off. The life span has been shortened at best. And it could cause a fire or electric shock at worst.
Sorry to give you the bad news, I do wish you luck, but your best bet is to just get a new one. This one will never be the same again even if it does start working. You could end up wasting a lot of time and effort.

If you can open the Zune and put it in a warm place to let it dry out. Clean the remaining residue with a brush. if that doesn't help, you most likely need a new logic board which can be replaced without problems. There are third party Zune repair services, that will fix it for cheap. Even better, I found an DYI Zune repair guide, soyoucan do it yourself too, not that difficult. Part is availableon Ebay. If you can't do it yourself, have a tech savy friend do itfor you.

SOURCE: water in my zune
Turn the Zune off, then push the left and up buttons as you keep it connected to the computer charger. That will hard reset the Zune. If it doesn't respond to the hard reset it is more likely you have motherboard issue, not a screen issue. Try to clean the corroded parts on the logic board. If that doesn't help, there are parts available on ebay, there is a zune repair guide that will show you how to replace the logic board.
