Question about Epson AcuLaser C900 Printer
I just got an Epson C900 working - sort of ;). It refused to take any paper, and I noticed that the paper feed tray (the one built-in) did'nt raise the tray as I supposed it should. I then saw that there was a fix for the Minolta MagiColor 2300 (basically the same machine as I understand it), basically that you just had to push ******* the paper tray down to the bottom to release some sort of solenoid connected to the tray assembly. Sure enough, the fix worked!
Now that I have the printer feeding paper from the tray, it goes through the printer, comes out at the top - but just before the sheet of paper is released (ejected) into the collection bay at the top, it stops! The paper seems almost fully printed, but why does it stop there?
Aditionally, I'm having problems printing color on it. In color modes (not monochrome, that seems to work somewhat) only some faint shades of blue appear, a hint of red and no yellow. This is reported in several places in these forums. There was a timing problem mentioned, maybe this has something to do with it. I have tried manipulating the timing roller.
FYI, the printer has been standing unused for at least 6 months in a dusty space at work, probably getting some kicks from people passing by.
I got it printing, now the goal is to make it print resonably. Any help very much appreciated!
SOURCE: paper won't feed
My CX4800 developed the same problem. It was an excellent machine until then. I tried everything I could think of, and finally decided it must be the rather large feed in rollers at the right of the paper bin (one below and one above the paper) that had worn too smooth to pull the paper in. It works fine if I will give the sheet a "push" when it starts to go down - but who has time to stand there and push each piece in! It would really be nice if Epson would provide us with inexpensive replacement rollers and instructions for installing them. Guess they had rather we just buy a new printer - which I did, a CX7800, only to find that it will not take the heavy weight photo paper. :-(
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Did you check the thickness? My printer won't feed paper that's to think or thick properly it sould say in the manual what thickness of paper you should use.

SOURCE: epson c90 paper feed problem
Is the message general error? The problem is tchip. When turn on chip is recognized by printer, but when start to print, printer "read" some information from the chip. Here is the error. Some pin at the chip for redaing the existence of chip, other pin for reading the information. Check connector between chip and carriage.

An Epson service man (he was VERY kind to suggest this) told me to use a weak detergent solution on the rollers, NOT alcohol as that will dry out the material the rollers are made of. Although the problem has recurred a couple of times, it's worth repeating when necessary. I actually activate the 'print' command so it tries to feed in paper, while I FIRMLY hold a piece of fine cotton cloth stretched over a thin plastic ruler, which I hold down where the paper feed grabs its paper. The printer has a couple of tries to feed paper, reports an error message (because there was no paper) and I activate it again, thus exposing the WHOLE of the feed wheel to the cleansing cloth! WORTH A TRY!
