Im sorry but you are not the first to have this problem. I do not recomend Mcafee to my customers I am an avg fan. Mcafee seems to want to take over the day to day functions of the system instead of being a watchdog. in all the computers I sell I install avg free 8.0 and have never had a problem with it or a complaint of infection. Sorry Mc Afee. take care Margo..Be mucho blessed...Mark

How do I cancel ny mcaffee viris protestion

(Important: Before uninstalling your McAfee product, please make sure that your Norton is functioning properly and is up-to-date for better protection of your system.)

Are you using free trial version of McAfee virus protection or is it paid?
Here's how you can remove McAfee from your system:
You can remove the application from your system by following the uninstallation steps mentioned below:
For Windows 8 users:
1) Close all McAfee program windows.
2) In the Start screen, type "Programs and Features". (If it is not visible, click "Settings" in the list on the right.)
3) Click "Programs and Features" in the list on the left.
4) Select "McAfee SecurityCenter".
5) Click "Uninstall" and follow any on-screen prompts.
For Windows 7 and Vista users:
1) Close all McAfee program windows.
2) Click "Start", go to "Search", then type "Programs and Features", and click "Go".
3) Double-click "Programs and Features".
4) Select "McAfee Security Center".
5) Click "Uninstall" and follow any on-screen prompts.

For Windows XP users:
1) Close all McAfee program windows.
2) Click "Start", go to "Settings", and then go to "Control Panel".
3) Double-click "Add or Remove Programs".
4) Select "McAfee Security Center".
5) Click "Remove" and follow any on-screen prompts.

If you are not able to completely remove McAfee from your system by following the above steps, you can consider using McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool to uninstall the application successfully. To know more about MCPR, you can refer to "Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool" section on the following link:

McAffe security protection. Compaq Presario XP

Hi,
The Windows Firewall is different from MCafee Security Centre. And if it has a X on it that means Ur MCafee Protection is disabled or May be expired.
To Check that, Just click on the MCafee Icon on the desktop or on the botton right hand corner, and check if its disabled or u needs to renew it.

Thank You,
Your Tech Support,

We are a Church and do not have a credit card to enable me to renew Anti Virus Protection online. Is it possible to be billed and pay by cheque?

Do not renew your subscription. I am guessing it is Norton(Symantec) or McAfee, unfortunately both of these once reputable anitivirus applications have become loaded with a lot of intrusive software that eats up system resources and slows your computer down.
Use a free antivirus application like AVG, Avast or NOD32. These free applications are just as good if not better to be honest, than either Norton or McAfee.
Here is a link to download the free version of AVG 8.0.

I am the securities moderator on another forum and AVG is by far the most popular antivirus package.

There is a reason they are known as AOHell in the computer trade.
I know you have paid for McAfee but you are better off without it, McAfee will be a major drain on your system resources slowing your computer down.
Try and get your money back for McAfee and download the free version of AVG 8.0. This new version of AVG comes with lots of extra security enhancements not just antivirus.
You can download AVG 8.0 free here:

There are plenty of reasons not to install McAfee and if you are interested you can read about them here:

You will need to contact McAfee support either by e-mail or online chat. I find that on-line support gets things resolved faster that a e-mail

Have whatever information about the purchase ready when you contact McAfee support.
