My nokia n95 won't send text messages, says memory full close some applications and try again. O2 not being much help, any suggestions please???

  • flennerz Aug 13, 2008

I have exactly the same problem. When pressing 'send' on a text message, the message moves to the outbox and tells me that it will try to resend in the next couple of minutes. Eventually it fails, saying 'memory full. Close some applications and try again'.

No applications are open; I've deleted nearly all my old messages in my inbox and have plenty of space on both the phone memory and my memory card (1GB on the card).

    Any ideas?

    Hi There

This is a common fault woth the N95 - Go back to your service provider and tell them that you want a new phone. Thats what I did and so far no issues with the new one.

I can RECEIVE sms, can't SEND! it says "check network svcs". I t was working just few weeks ago!

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2009

I have the same problem. I am on my third handset and each handset has in time developed this problem O2 do not help in anyway they just replace them. Nokia say it is a problem with O2 - perhaps due to the service messages they send out.

I have the same problem and want to save my txt messages, how do i do this. i dont want to loose anything when restoring the factory settings.

I have the same problem with the N95 suddenly not being able to send texts. I am on my third handset. All three have been fine at first but then develop the fault all of a sudden. O2 do nothing except say you have to return it to get a reconditioned replacement. They are not willing to look into the problem even though loads of people have it on O2. They don't seem to realise the hassle it causes. I have reported them to Otelo the ombudsman cos I am sick of their lack of support.

N95 Memory Full Problem can not be resolve by simply restarting or by changing the network setting. You must "Manual Reset" it. Just Turn Off the Phone, Press the *, Call Button, Three and ask another Person to turn on your N95 by pressing the power button. Stay pressing the Three Buttons until the phone fully boot up and ask you to enter Date and Time. After that, youre phone will go back to Factory Setting.

Good Luck,

Thank you sooo much for the solution. I had exactly the same problem, i risked with those 3 buttons, and it was worth it. I can send txts now and it didnt wipe out my photos, just contacts and my settings.
Big thank you

I also have the problem of not being able to send messages with my Nokia N95 phone, it randomly stopped sending messages, instead deferring them to the Outbox. I went to an O2 shop in Belfast and they mentioned that it seems to be a problem with the sim card (Makes sense because when I get a new phone I normally just put the sim from my old phone into it since it has all my contacts etc). I have to wait 24 hours now before my new sim card is properly activated, but I think it should work.
Hope this helps anyone in my position!

The first soution worked for me for about 3 months until the same problem cropped up again. Frankly, I would suggest getting a new phone since the nokia is pretty much useless.

for sending text messages :
1. call to your network operator customer care

3.note it down
4. go to message settings>message center number

My nokia n95 wont send texts i can recieve then n make/recieve calls it says memory full close some applications and try again :s. ive restored back to factory settings.... help lol

Set you Message Storage Destination to Memory card and delete unwanted Smses or Bluetooth received files from the phone memory. To do this, Go to message settings and there's an option with "Default destination" or something like that, and set the Storage to Memory Card. You'll also need to close the programs that are running on the background. To do this press and hold the "Menu" key, and to close the particular program, press "C". Good luck Thanks for using FixYa.

Try to change the message storage memory from phone to memory card, 'cause N95 ship with altest 1GB memory card.. it can be done this way

open messaging > options > settings > memory in use > [select card]

Nokia n95 cannot send text messages

Your mobile phone has a virus so you will need to take the phone to a mobile service center and have them re-flash the phone to correct this issue....or you can try downloading an anti-virus to correct this issue.
