Hi. I have a acer aspire 1642ZWLMi. Seems to work okay except I have gone through 3 power chords to date to try to keep it charged. Two were original ibm power chords, the third was a generic purchased from Tiger Direct whom I had purchased the computer from. Seems after about three months of use each chord seems to start to have difficulty connecting in the back of the computer leaving me to frequently have to jiggle it until I reach a good connection. Then I have to make certain not to move the laptop lest it loose the connection resulting in it going to battery but having a more dim screen which is hard for me to read. HELP.
-   I also have an acer aspire and have had the same problem. They are made like cr*p i wouldn't recommend them to anyone. -   noreturn775

Hi,
The problem that you Actually Have, Is that the Mains In DC Jack on the Motherboard. Has worked Loose.
You need this replacing A.S.A.P as it,s burning your power packs out, it,s also possibly arcing across the motherboard.
If you look on the internets largest Auction Site :) services are offered to repair these. Usually varying From £40-$80. Plus, Dependant on sending the complete laptop, or just Motherboard.
Alternatively A Computer repair centre. I,d estimated £100-$200 Maximum. But worth Doing to save your Motherboard And future power pack purchases.

When i push the power button, the little blue light comes on at the bottom of the keyboard, and i hear a ''****'' inside the laptop, but the blue light goes off within about 5-10 secs. and the laptop dies. i've tried removing the battery, unplugging the power supply, holding the power button down so long, etc. nothing works.
