I have a Buffalo HD-HB250U2-WR and have never had problems before. After turning on the system, it starts up and tries to connect, but then it seems like it resets because it clicks and then the whirring noise starts over. After doing this for a couple of minutes, the system shuts down automatically. Is there anything I can do to fix this or retrieve the data I have saved on it?

If the drive clicks and whirs and repeats, then I'm afraid it is dead. The only way to get any data off it will be to contact one of those expensive data recovery companies. Sorry!
