Question about Canon PowerShot S400 / IXUS 400 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Canon S400 When I turn the camera on I get blurry lines and colors. When I review previous photographs they look fine. The camera has worked fine for 4 years, and is very well cared for and kept in a case at all times. This was a big investment for me, and I am very discouraged.

Thanks, I believe this may be the problem that I am having. Thanks for the help.

I may have the same problem as Idosteen who posted previously. When I turn my camera on (Canon S400) I get a purple Maze that looks like a curtain from top to bottom. It happened off and on for three weeks. Would go away and then come back. Now it stays there when I turn on the camera. Pictures are o.k. when I check the ones I have taken. We are going on vacation for three weeks and I hate to be without my Canon S400 to send it away for repair. Can it be repaired by a dealer near my home?

Let me know if I have the same problem. My camera does have vertical lines running down the viewfinder. If I turn it off and on several times The LCD may be clear. My pictures to record, but are often blurry. Is this the same problem.

When I turn my camera on, all I get is a blank screen. I can still review pictures in the memory. If I try to take a picture, the flash works but when I review the image it is blurry and red.

Flickering lines and the color is off

I found the same problem recently, but it is intemittent. It then changed from flickering lines to more of a blurred picture on the LED screen. I have tried all things to clear it, but the best seems to be to turn it off for a while and it often clears. Previously captured pictures review fine on the LED screen, but when the screen blurs (with a blurry motion too!) that is how the picture records and reviews. I bought my Ixus 400 in Sep 03 and this problem started in Jun 07.

Lcd is blery

What you describe may be caused by several different faults. Do the pictures from the camera show the same blurry washed out look? It may be either the aperture is stuck wide open, or the shutter may be similarly stuck open. Can you describe the symptoms further?
