Question about Pentax Optio 30 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Optio V10 Won't stay on.

When I turn my camera on, it momentarily comes on. The display says "Green Mode" and "auto Picture". After about 3 seconds it automatically shuts down.

I changed batteries to check, but that is not the problem. The battery is good.

Help, please!!

Bill

Try to hook up the camera to a power surge if you have an adapter so that when you turn it on you can navigate on the settings and camera wont shut off, check on the settings if there are other mode aside from Green mode and select it, chances if there is no other setting, you are having an issue with your camera, hardware issue. call manufacturer's support line for warranty verification. best i got. thanks for using fixya!

Hi,

I suggest you to replace it with new batteries.

You can try switching over to 2500 mAh Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries and you will see a difference.

Digital cameras with zoom lens need more power than what can be supplied by ordinary batteries.

Few troubleshooting steps you can try before replacing the new batteries:

1)The battery cover or CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed

    Most
cameras have a lock mechanism on the battery cover. The camera will not
turn on if the battery cover is not locked or securely closed, or if
the CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed. Make sure
    these covers are securely closed.

2)Try removing the batteries and the mem card for few min. and then insert only the batteries and see if it turns on.

    3)When
camera does not operate with a brand-new alkaline battery (for cameras
that use AA-size batteries) or with a fully charged rechargeable
battery, the terminals may be dirty.

    Polish
the terminals with a dry cloth and make sure the terminals are clean.
If the terminals are covered with oil from your skin or similar matter,
this may cause poor contact and power may not be fully supplied to the
    camera.

Also, polish the battery charger terminals with a dry cloth before
charging the battery. If the terminals are covered with oil from your
skin or similar matter, this may cause poor contact and the battery may
    not be fully charged.

If you still face the problem then switch to new batteries.

Pentax Z10 won't turn on.

Press and hold the playback button for 2 seconds. The camera should turn on and be in playback mode. Switch to Camera Mode by opening the from slider cover. Hope that fixes it. See Pentax Z10 Manual Page 34.

View looks normal then image comes out very bright

Your point n shoot camera has an ISO adjustment in the menu. Be sure that is set to no more than 400 indoors and no more than 100 outdoors.

If it has something called exposure Value or Ev, set that to zero.

Or, if you really want to see if the camera is not working properly, set it to the green auto mode and take a picture. If in auto mode, it still comes out over-exposed there is probably a problem with the camera.

Pentax Optio M20

Found the following on a website about these cameras...
http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/content/Pentax-Optio-M20-Digital-Camera-Review/Modes.htm
"The second, and previously mentioned automatic mode, is the Green mode that restricts the camera controls to two flash settings, three AF options, zoom, and a self-timer setting. This mode locks out the menu systems, manual focus, mode menus and other options. It’s definitely easy to use, as all one can really do is point and shoot."

This may be a internal software confusion problem. If it is, the following may help.
Make sure your buttons or dials are not on AUTOMATIC, that appears to set the green mode.
I think I would remove the batteries. Next, if the camera has a small battery (similar to the bios battery in computers) remove that as well. Let the camera sit over night. You will need enough time for the capacitors to discharge. Then put the batteries in again, and try.
