We got this player in March, off ebay, sold as a refurb. Everything was fine- it was treated with care, kept away from food, liquids, pets & kids- never dropped or left in extreme temps. One day the screen wouldn't turn on. The player itself does but it's impossible to make it do anything without seeing what you're clicking on.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I have just had the same problem as well tried reset / repair nothing at all contacted Philips told it was a major fault with internal power unit. Mine was Manufacturer refurbished, which philips also told me they don't do, they throw them away so how can mine be @manufacturer refurbed?
My Mp4 player will not start. When I turn it on an hour glass just pops up. I loaded music on to it no problem and it worked fine. Turned it off one day and the next day nothing but an hour glass...computer won't even receognize the player...Gereric MP4 player bought off ebay and made in China...Any ideas how I can reset the player??
Problem resolved. I just let it sit until battery went down far enough for "Battery" alert to come on screen. From there I put a charge on it and everything works fine now. Probably I should have kept it charged up.
If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, your iPod may be paused or on "hold."
Slide the Hold switch and check the screen.
If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, connect your iPod to your computer, then press and hold the "Menu" and "Select" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds to reset the iPod. Resetting an iPod will not affect your files or preferences.
If your iPod fails to hold a charge and it's more than a year old, you may need a new battery.
If all else fails, file a complaint with ebay stating you were sold something that was not properly described - unless the seller made it clear there were issues with the unit.
