Sorry to hear about your problem.

The problem you have described is going to require a costly repair. You are having problems with the "brains" of the television. I recommend replacing this television fixing this television will be cost-prohibitive.

Also be sure that you have a signal going to the set either cable or ant or whatever, when it's turned on it should scan for inputs and if nothing is plugged in it obviously won't find anything and shut itself down.

Hope this helps

The only time I have seen this is when the set is in the "auto program" mode. Once completed, this should not show up again unless the set has been unplugged for a long period of time. Does this show up each time you turn on the set?

    Frankz,

This could be a logic problem or even a power supply problem. Does this set remain in this condition, never coming out? The autoprogram can take up to 5 minutes these days. I'll research this a bit and see if I can give you some additional things to check for.

Thanks for the update. Since the set is shutting itself down, the self tests are finding a fault. The unit is not searching for channels, it is attempting to startup. It doesn't matter whether or not a cable is connected. Not finding a channel or signal will not shutdown the set. I'll look up this model tonite and get more info.

    Stay tuned...

System can't fix restart problem itself

Found this on the GT website:

  1. When Gran Turismo 6 is launched while connected to PSN, a message will appear on screen informing the users that "the latest update data for this software has been found (Version 1.03)".
  2. Once accepted (by pressing the X button while selecting [OK]), a "Please wait..." message will be displayed. After a few seconds, the PlayStation 3 system will emit 3 acoustic signals and restarts automatically.
  3. At this point, some users may receive a message stating that the system was not shut down correctly last time. The system will ask then to perform a system file check and then the reboot is completed.
  4. Users will be prompted again to download Update 1.03, whether they received the message in step 3 or not.
To avoid this issue:

  1. To avoid this issue, please accept to download the Update by selecting [OK] within 2 seconds of its appearance on screen when prompted. This will update the game properly.
  2. If you wait longer than 2 seconds, please decline the Update by pressing the Circle button when the message in step 1 is displayed, then select [Back] in the subsequent "Sign-In to PSN" screen. The game will start, quit the game using the PS button while in the [My Home] screen and follow the procedure described above.
This requires fast fingers and is a "work around" solution only but should fix your issue!

I hooked my PS3 to my HDMI cable to get a better visual screen display for my HD movies and games, but display screen went blank and I cant get the commands menu screen, how can I get the menu commands...

You must reset your PS3 in order to accept the new TV configuration.

  • If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.
  • Then, with only the PLAYSTATION3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

  • Hope this helps please remember to rate my response, thanks!

PLASMA DISPLAY STARTING UP. PLEASE WAIT

Un plug the power to the Plasma Screen and also to the Media Receiver for ten minutes. Disconnect the off the air antennas both A and B. After ten minutes plug in the plasma screen then the media receiver and turn on wi the remote control. You should now be back in operation. I was.
Also It may not be a bad digital tuner. The TV Guide feature is active even when the zip code is set to all 0s so if you have an over the air antenna attached the TV will look for the TV Guide info and if it can not find it because of a weak signal or the chanel it is tuned to does not carry that information the TV thinks that tuner does not work which triggers the 12 flashes. Also on power up the gray box with the waring message "Plasma Display Starting Up, Please Wait" appears and the screen is blank.
