Hi, does the battery last as it was earlier, before starts over heating?. If not, you are having some hardware related trouble and you need servicing of the system, else cleaning the fan and air vent may solve the problem.

A cooling pad is a good soution, the only other option I can suggest is to get a can of compressed air and blow out your fan vents, as dust builds it prevents air flow and can result in overheating. Other than that there isn't much you can do other than taking your laptop apart and manually cleaning the fan blades.

Good Luck
Hope this helps

How do i resolve the problem of vga not responding after like 30 minutes to 1 hour of usage

your graphics chip is separating from the board enough to create the fault. Most use a flexible heat pad as a spacer between the chip and cooling assembly.Google to find how to clean fan and replace heat pad.Using a copper shim instead of the flexible pad is best.A reflow of the GPU chip may be required also.

How can I increase my laptop battery life?

To increase the battery operating timeline you can do a number of things. These usually include dimming the screen, adjusting the power setting to turn the screen off after 10 minutes and stop the hard drive from spinning when idle after a period of time too.

Results will vary from laptop to laptop and depends if the quoted 6 hours 30 minutes time frame is an actual recorded time of usage off ac or based on windows assumption and estimation.

Windows power management can only tell you the time in which battery power is maintainable for based on the consumption rate at the time. With this being said start up and playing games will utilise more power that say word processing after the initial startup has cooled down.

Some laptops can be operated without the battery however there are an increasing number of laptops these days being manufactured without this option. You can attempt to operate it without the battery and doing so will not damage the laptop in any way. If anything it will maintain the life expectancy of the battery.

My ibm thick pad laptop suddenlly off every time i on it what might be the problem

When the CPUoverheats it goes into thermal shutdown and will not boot up again until theCPU has cooled down.
The heat sink may be clogged with dust, which causes the CPU to overheat byreducing air circulation through the heat sink.If you are notusing your laptop on a flat surface, it may be obstructing the cooling vents onthe bottom of the laptop. Your laptop fanmay be faulty and not spinning freely, in this case replace the fan.
Check the fan and heat sink assembly and remove the dust, loosen the dust anduse a can of compressed air to clear away the dust.A laptop fan assistedcooling pad may solve your problem

R61i overheats and goes in sleep mode

Many laptops accumulate dust inside the fan/heat exchanger assembly over several months or years, and must be removed in order for the laptop to properly cool itself. Depending on how much you use the laptop, it can happen in as little as a matter of months. You may want to ask a laptop repair place how much just to clean out the dust, and see if that works. Sometimes a cooling pad can help, especially if the laptop isn't already on a hard, flat surface.I actually keep my laptop on a small wooden board the same length & width as the laptop with a cooling pad on top of that, and the laptop on top of that, because I often want to set my laptop on my bed, which can smother the air circulation, and cause it to overheat quickly otherwise. Even when on a hard, flat surface, like a table or desk, if I am playing a game, I put it on the cooling pad because games cause the laptop components to generate a lot of heat, and this brand is somewhat notorious for overheating (especially when it has a discreet graphics card).

Most laptops have the hard drive under that area and it could be your hard drive overheating i would get a usb laptop cooler or replace the drive with a 5400 rpm drive so it runs cooler.

Fan starts making noise and the bottom of laptop heats up very quickly

Bring your laptop in to be serviced. Also purchase a cooling pad. Dust effects laptops the same way it does a desktop but the laptop gets hotter faster because in most cases the hot air has nowhere to go. I bet your fans vent on the heatsink is caked right now with dust.

My Dell 610D runs for about 15 minutes getting progressively hotter(speed fan) and then just stops working?

It sounds like the DELL is overheating and shutting down and if it cannot start up again straight away until it has cooled down then it is definitely a thermal overload (overheating) problem.
If the fan is OK then the fault is most likely dust clogging the fan and heatsink assembly.
The fix - loosen the dust from the vents, fan and heatsink assembly and vacuum/remove the dust off these components.
Use the laptop on a flat hard surface and/or place small pads to increase the height and ventillation to the laptop.
If the problem persists then there are products such as fan assisted cooling pads that you place the laptop on to provide addition cooling to the laptop,
If you continue to ignore this problem then eventually the CPU chip will fail.

Gateway T-1625 overheating

get a can of compressed air, some dust may have accumulated in the heatsink causing it to overheat faster. Blow into the vents on the back or bottom of the laptop it should help.
