What brand is your pump? Emerson and 1081 are motor related pieces of information. In general the process is the same for any brand...Disassemble the pump, lock the motor shaft at the end opposite the pump, spin off the impeller, replace both halves of the seal and assemble in reverse order. If you need more specific directions, please comment with the brand and model of your pump.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!

How to replace pump seal on hot tub with emerson 1081 motor and gasket replacement on 2 inch

Emerson is the motor manufacturer. 1081 is the swimming pool duty motor designation. In other words all pool pump motor manufacturers have a 1081 motor. The mechanical shaft seal is going to be a part of the actual Pool pump itself. The seal is between the seal plate and the impeller. If motor is extremely noisy, then the leak allowed water to get into bearings and cause damage. If the motor is really noisy, or the shaft doesnt spin freely, then you may have damaged motor bearings. The pump manufacturer can usually be identified by markings on parts of pump ( in front of motor ).
