Can't see files I have downloaded onto my clip

I have had my clip for about a year, and have not had any problems, but just recently I downloaded several files onto my clip, and I see them when it is hooked to the computer, but I can't find them on the clip to play them when unhooked.
Please help asap!!!

I am having the same problem. I have tried even syncing my MP3. Nothing works. The flies are there when hooked to the computer. The minute I unplug the clip the flies are no longer there.

Actually, I did some digging around myself - the files that I can see when hooked to the computer are all .cda files - after some research I found out that this type of file carries information only - not the actual audio (maybe it was some sort of protection attached to the cd??) It makes sense - I can listen to the cda files if the disk is in the computer, but when the disk is out, I can't even listen to the files that have been downloaded to windows media (not even taking the mp3 into account).
Could this be your problem also Domiaty2>

I have a new Macbook Pro. How do I download Mp3 files to my Sansa clip Mp3 Player?

  1. The Sansa Clip will only play digital files that are in the MP3 format.
  2. Anything you "drag" to the Clip must be dragged to the MUSIC folder of the Clip drive represented on your desktop.
So, first make sure your CD "audio files" are in the MP3 format (iTunes can convert them, if not). And second, make sure you locate the MUSIC folder on the Clip drive as your destination.
Getting Songs onto the Clip
This is just a matter of copying files.

1) Plug the Clip into your USB
2) Copy song files (in the format the Clip accepts, see Clip manual) from your source to the MUSIC folder of the Clip drive.

NOTE (applies only to older versions of firmware): Copying files to the Clip on a Mac created extra files on the Clip and you would see them on the Clip display. If you are using an earlier firmware, you need something like the application, KopyMac to prevent this during copying. With the latest version of the firmware, this problem is eliminated.

FYI, if you keep your song files in the Artist:Album:song folder hierarchy on your source drive, you can copy the Artist folder to the Clip MUSIC folder and the hierarchy will be available through the Clip Music menu.

You can convert the file to mp3 so that the size of the file would decrease to around 150MB so that you can burn it on a CD. First copy it onto your computer and then use the software below to do it
