I took my cover off to clean the laser with air spray and/or q-tip. Problem is, i pulled out the cord that goes from the power button to the console. It's connected to the button (on the cover) but i dont know where the slot is to try to put the other end of the flat cord back in.

Try doing the following

if you'll check the disc tray side you'll see a white slot where the ribbonwire should connect you'll also find some connectors colored pink green and white if you'll look thoroughly it is located beside those connectors

Opened up a PS2 and square metal piece fell out

If you look on the left hand side of the top plastic bit you will see what looks like 3 holes. You have to place metal bit to match up with the central hole but in the other half. The smaller side fits in a perfectly sized hole.

My ps2 does'nt turn on when it's plugged on!!!!

Hey man, I had the same problem a few weeks ago, but not anymore! What's wrong is that a cable inside has become unattached, this cable controls the front buttons. What I did was open up the top of my PS2 and check the cable,(it should look like a strip of paper) if it is unattached then you have some work to do. Flip the Ps2 over and open the bottom up. You should see the motherboard and lots of other stuff. Ignore it. What you want is a small port on the side of the front buttons cleverly hidden under a metal box thingy. Plug the end of the cable in to the port. On my Ps2 it din not stay in, so I had the Ps2 on and wiggled the cable until both front lights light up. Then you need to fasten the cable down in the right position. I used Scotch tape, but you can use whatever you want, just as long as it holds it down IN A POSITION WHERE ALL LIGHTS LIGHT UP! If this does not work, then I got nothing, hope this helps! Here is a you tube video that might help!

Disc doesnt spin , the lens dont move up and down , only lights red

Sounds like a motor issue, not a laser issue.

Power Trouble

Pop it open and see if it needs to be cleaned out. Verify when it is powering up the fans are spooling sounds like it is over heating, or there's a problem with the power supply.
