Beverage-Air DD50 Commercial Keg Fridge Not Cooling

I have a the Bev-Air DD50 commercial keg fridge for about 3-4 weeks now and i bought it used from a restaurant closing. The thing has been so spurratic. I leave it set to 9 on the thermostat dial and it will stay nice and cold for days and then all the sudden one day it will be warm. I can't figure out what is going on. My first thought was the thermostat is bad, but i don't want to replace it if i'm not sure. What else could it be? The fan is always running inside but don't know if t he coils are freezing up or something because i have it set all the way up to 9. You would think if the dial goes to nine, it should be able to run that without freezing up. Anyone know any ways to test if its the thermostat? Someone else told me it could be a circuit board problem of overheating and shorting out. I have heard the compressor running for periods of time here and there but never really stopped to listen for 15-20 min to make sure it is always kicking on. Any advice?

The starting components on the compressor could be going bad. You need to turn off the thermostat and then after about five minutes turn it on while listening to the compressor to hear if it kicks in, if it doesn't then you might have faulty starting component, more likely the overload.

How long does a tapped keg of beer last?

This depends on the type of system you are using to tap your keg. A standard tap given to you with a keg will not last very long, just less than a week. If you are using a proper kegorator CO2 system, your beer will last at least two months, if not longer depending on the temperature of your fridge.

Delfield vs bev air, which way would you go for a used 2 door under the counter refrigerator in a concession trailer?

I'm not a big fan of either. I've been involved in the restaurant business my entire adult life and neither one impresses me. If I had to choose, it would be the Delfield but keep in mind that their parts have to come from a Delfield supplier. Bev-Air parts are a little easier to get except for things like door hinges and door gaskets. Sorry that I can't really be much more help than this but this is my opinion based on experiences.

Bosch intelligent frost free 88

We have the same and I think it is because the freezer door bounces open when we shut the fridge door. Then the freezer compartment ices up, the fan clogs up with ice and cannot blow cold air into the fridge, and the fridge gets warm and the milk goes off.
Solution? We have bought one of those child safety clips (search for fridge safety clip or lock) to hold the freezer door closed.
Simple design error. Expected better from Bosch :-(

I have a commercial Bev-air refrigerator that will not cut off when it reaches the set temp. and when dial is turned to off position it will also not turn off.

Sounds like the t'stat is bad. Inside are contact points that can "Weld" together causing this condition. Possibly wired wrong but I doubt it if it has worked in the past and no one has worked on it. Should be an easy fix. Restaurant Parts and More carry alot of Bev-Air stuff. 1-888-814-1110. Ask for Rick.

Unit not freezing , evaporator fan wont run

If this is a Bev-Air, don't think the door switch will control the fan. At the evap, there is a temp sensor called a fan delay. When unit goes into defrost mode, this warms up. Some also serve a dual purpose. It will terminate the defrost cycle at a certain temp., say 51 degrees or so, at the evap. Anyway, when unit comes out of defrost, it keeps the fan off so it allows the evap to cool quicker and to prevent circulating warm air. This could be your problem. Not a hard fix but they can be a pain sometimes. Outside chance that the unit is low on refrigerant (freon). This will not let the evap get cold enough to trip the sensor back into position to turn the fan on. Good Luck. Restaurant Parts and More carry alot of Bev-Air stuff. 1-888-814-1110. Ask for Rick

Food is freezing

usually there is an adjustment at the back for the difference between the fridge and freezer compartment. Often is just a vane that blocks freezer air, too much air would freeze the food. Normally you set the fridge thermostat for a normal food temp, then adjust the air to keep the food warmer than the freezer.
