Start by taking the machine apart, cleaning the fan, and checking the connection. The failure may be due to debris buildup or a loose connection, and I've also seen fans stop working because a hair has gotten wound in them. If it still doesn't work properly after cleaning, then it will need to be replaced. Here's a link that has breakdown diagrams and instructions, this should help.

My fan has been making noise but it went away ... Last night I closed down my machine and when I opened it this morning I get a message fan error ... I assume that I need a new fan ... Please confirm and...

It depends on the fan type (power supply fan, processor fan, enclosure-mounted fan) and whether you are technically savvy to replace it yourself. Fans can cost anything from $3 to $30, depending on size and quality.
When you establish what kind and size of fan you need, you can buy it in any online store with computer/electronics parts.

THINKPAD G41 Fan Error

Hi

Thank you for your query

You are right when the laptop first starts up it is the fan, if you are getting error message then it is the heat sink (fan on top of cpu) that will need to be replaced.

I would only recommend changing it if you know how as getting to the motherboard is quite tricky to say the least

Please dont listen to the geeks at bestbuy, they obviously dont know what they are talking about

If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank you again

Getting an error on my Samsung DLP model HLS5086W. Error ''check Fan No 2'' Two qustions: I can't find any information on this error online or in the manual. I want to know where to check it and how to...

If you have removed the back of the set, or if you do, you will see that all of the fans hook to the digital processor module right in the middle of the set towards the back. There will be the fan connections on the right hand side. Follow the connections of the second connector down (this will be fan #2) to the fan, and that is the one that is causing the error. Note that the fans are a three wire hook up and you will need to replace them with a simmilar fan. You may want to replace any fan that is noisy or is slow while you are in the set.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

My computer started to have this weird noise about 3 weeks ago. when it started it wasnt everyday and I would re start and it would stop. About 4 days ago it started and doesnt stop. Its a constant noise,...

Hello aneleopolski,

It could be that there is something obstructing the fan, as this is the major source for noise from a PC.

If you know how, open the side panel of the PC cabinet and inspect the fan. Make sure the fan grille is not dented or touching the fan in any way. Also make sure that the fan is in an exact upright position, as even a slight tilt can cause the fan to create a noise.
Make sure there are no loose parts in the cabinet, small pieces of plastic, loose screws, etc. Also make sure that when you replace the cabinet panel, there are no wires touching the fan grille. If there are wires running around the fan, try to tape them together and to the panel away from the fan.

Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied. Error message er if

Hi. Error FF is your Fresh Food Fan. Otherwords, the evaporator fan motor has failed. You should replace the motor and motherboard. You may get by just replacing the motor. Sears doesn't manufacture the refrigerator. They just pay extra to have Kenmore put on it. Its the manufacturer that needs to back their equipment. If you bought it from Lowes, you can't hold Lowes responsible for the ongoing issue. They sell the same refrigerator. Anytime this model refrigerator displays an Error code, unplug it for 5 miniutes and replug it. Sometimes it was a computer misfuction. Good luck! Mack
