Question about Danby DPAC120061 Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Your response Hi d-trai, I got a hold of Danby, and they're sending me a manual. Meantime, I think I got most of it put together, but there's this clear plastic hose with a gray threaded cap and I have no idea where it goes. Do you know off hand? Feel free to email me directly at: resa@blatmandesign.com Thanks! R.

Its to manually drain the internal water tank. You only need to do that when you are going to store the unit or if its not dumping into the external tank for some reason. So it doesn't stay connected, just store the hose til needed.

Remove the cabinet: take out bucket and remove all visible screws; sometimes the plastic cabinet parts also snap together or the top actually has plastic hooks that engage so it has to be slid front or back 1/2" - just be very careful after you remove all screws to determine what is still holding it together BEFORE applying any force.

Once the cabinet is off, the coils are exposed in the front, and the drain pan is under then. Be careful to not damage the coils or bend them. Flush/blow into drain tube or snake with flexible wire to open then, clean out all sludge and lint, and check to make sure drains still open, then reassemble.

Won't let water in.

If your pump is running, you probably have water in the overflow area so it won't let more come in. You need to pry off the plastic cover that is just below the door. We unscrewed it while following manual instructions, but found that it actually pops off without unscrewing anything. Under there you will find a rubber or plastic cover on the overflow area. Remove it, drain the water into a container and then put the covers back on. The dishwasher should work now.

Another thing that has worked acceptably well for me in this case is 'gluing' the plastic window back into place with a generous layer of GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath sealant.

it works on both metal and plastic.

make sure the surfaces are all completely dry and apply a layer around the rectangle area where the plastic would normally meet the stainless steel (remove any plastic bits from the holes so that the sealant can squeeze in a little), place the plastic window back into position and put some weight over the entire surface of the window....not too much, but enough so that it'll squeeze the sealant out to the edges and seal entirely around.

let 'cure' 24 hours

mine has held together over a month now and doesn't appear to be coming apart (although i think i could've used a bit more sealant)

Faucet connection

You only need to put back on the steel clamp that fits over the assembly which holds down the shield, the spring, and keeps the 4 ball bearings in place. The ball bearings may be tricky though as they tend to fall out when your putting the assembly back together.
