I have a double convection oven (Lang platinum). I bought it used. Was reprogramming bake items on it the other day and when I finished the oven turned off by itself. Then it tried to turn back on, again by itself, the computer screen began to light up but then it turned off again... on again, off again, and kept going. It makes this loud clicking nouse each time. The other oven works fine... any ideas what could be wrong with it. I would hate to call in a repairman for something that can easily be fixed.
Check door switches and if that’s not it look for loose wires or broken at the contractor switch inside the machine, be sure to cut power to machine before doing any of the above.Check door switches and if that’s not it look for loose wires or broken at the contractor switch inside the machine, be sure to cut power to machine before doing any of the above.

Most wall ovens have a cooling fan that comes on when the oven has been on for some time. It is separate from the convection operation. It should shut off after the oven has been off for a time.
it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area
Bake and convection bake settings both use the bottom bake element to heat. It would be unusual for bake to work without conv. bake working. You also have pure convection which uses a different element surrounding the conv. fan on the back of the unit. If you press a feature and nothing happens it's the touch pad. If it comes on then turns back off it's probably the ERC (clock). If it comes on and wont heat only in pure conv. possibly an upper relay board or element problem.
I believe the fan is supposed to rotate one way, then stop and spin the other way, ie. clockwise, then counter clockwise. Did the service guys check this? what service company did you use? You probably already know this but make sure the sides of the pan are NOT touching any of the sides of the oven. I work for a service company myself and I have to say if I got this call and neither of those two things solved it, I would be stumped!
It's not dumb, it's the oven. You simply hit bake, temperature and then bake again. Of course you have to choose whether to bake or convection bake and you choose this when you hit the first and last bake command.
It is likely that the convection element is burned out and needs to be replaced. If all other functions are working then this is the place to start. Teh back panel inside of the oven can be removed by removing the 4 visible philips screws on it. The element should look smooth and round, if not then it needs to be replaced. Be sure to turn power off to the oven before replacing it. Remove the screws that fasten the element to the back wall and gently pull the element away from the wall an inch or so. the wires will be exposed and can be unclipped from the element do not let them fall inside of the back of the oven or you will have to remove the oven from the wall to get at the back panel. Install the new element in the reverse procedure.
If the element looks good then it will have to be tested with a multimeter to verify that it is still good before proceeding to check the selector switch for burn marks.
