Do you have a wireless router that is connected to the Internet via a DSL or cable modem? Is the wireless driver installed and working on the Acer Aspire laptop? IF not then install the wireless driver. Download the wireless and device drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop the drivers you that require that matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: - http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx
SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are - 1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line. 2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service. 3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick. Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.
If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop. If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service. Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans. Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.
you might have put in the wrong password or user id check to make sure you have put these in correctly first make sure the caps lock is on/off what ever applies to your user and password id that you provided to your ISP also make sure your modem/routers settings are correct ie:password user name, firewall settings to allow your internet to connect also test the lead/s whether usb or ethernet you might check your modem first to make sure that you are getting a connection last resort ring your ISP internet sevice provider get them to check your modem for internet access online hope this helps don
It may be bad or not installed or not using the right drivers.Uninstall the modem in device manager then restart the laptop. It should reinstall it on reboot. If not go to Acer get the correct drivers including the chipset.Install the chipset first then all the others.Make sure you reboot after each driver is installed. If the modem still does'nt work it may need to be replaced at that point.
Hi there. If the other laptop is connecting fine then the problem lies with your laptop, possible bad drivers. This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to
default settings. What i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage"
and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network
adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "un-install" the
device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless
card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system
tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again.
keep me informed please
as a download of the drivers may be required.
I believe you are trying to connect wirelessly using your laptop to your wireless router(Belkin 59G). Try to hook it up first on your computer and check if you can go online.
If yes, then that's the time you go to the router's set up page and check the wireless security of the router so that you can connect wirelessly.
If not, then you have to reconfigure the router and the modem. If your internet service provider is cable you can just turn off the router then the modem and waitfor 5 seconds. Turn on the modem, wait for the lights to turn on then the router. After that, check if the computer will be able to go online when connected directly to the router.
