SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are - 1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line. 2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service. 3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick. Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.
If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop. If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service. Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans. Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.
It may be bad or not installed or not using the right drivers.Uninstall the modem in device manager then restart the laptop. It should reinstall it on reboot. If not go to Acer get the correct drivers including the chipset.Install the chipset first then all the others.Make sure you reboot after each driver is installed. If the modem still does'nt work it may need to be replaced at that point.
Hi there. If the other laptop is connecting fine then the problem lies with your laptop, possible bad drivers. This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to
default settings. What i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage"
and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network
adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "un-install" the
device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless
card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system
tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again.
keep me informed please
as a download of the drivers may be required.

hi . do you guys cant access to your wireless router ? if yes than try this
reset your modem by pressing reset button on your modem for more than 5 seconds so all the information entered will be gone including your password
than insert your modem CD and connect to your modem
set up your internet again
put your password and user name that your ISP gave you
set : get IP from ISP
get DNS from ISP
than go to wireless setting
use wpa- personal
and set up a new password eg. (usa2008)
than it will say your computers and network setting doesnt match
go to connect find your modem
right click on it
click on properties
than go security
choose WPA- personal
and your password (usa2008) you set to your modem
connect to your internet
im not sure if this is what you mean / thats how i anderstood your problem
NOTE : RESET YOUR MODEM IF YOU HAVE ALL YOUR INTERNET SERVICE INFORMATION
BECAUSE IT WILL DELETE ALL INFORMATION IN YOUR MODEM including user name / password / IP / DNS / and your modems password
It appears to me that you have everything plugged into the desktop PC. This is not the way that it should be done. Plug the cable modem into the wireless router via the Internet/WAN port. Plug your desktop PC into one of the ports numbered 1-4. Now connect to the router via the wireless connection for the router and you should be able to now connect to the internet with your laptop.
If it still does not work, power down everything in this order: Laptop, Desktop, Router, Cable Modem. Bring everthing up in the reverse order (Cable Modem, Router, Desktop, Laptop) waiting for each device to stablize before moving to the next.
Once you get everything working, turn on your wireless security (WPA not WEP) asap to keep your computers and surfing safe, and to keep intruders off your network.
it could be problem with network adapter and thi scould be problem after you installed windows vista and this could be possible problem with drivers of newtork adapter which would notr be instaleld as sson as it would be installed it would start working
