Vista connection -USB to Parallel Port Cable

I have just bought a new desktop with Vista and a cable to connect to the LJ 5L, which worked perfectly on my previous pc running XP. Have you any ideas as to what the solution is? Could it be the cable or is Vista incompatible with the LJ 5L?

Good printer, still works fine until I tried to install on Vista system. The computer recoginzes the printer hardward and give icon by the clock but will not print. I went through the wixard and did the install but still doesn't print. I don't understand the computer talk so I did not know how to do what the person suggested. Sorry! Any ideas for someone that doesn't understand the termonology?

Yes. Your product is supported. Drivers for HP printers are included with the Microsoft Windows Vista Operating System
HP has a Windows Vista driver solution available for your product. This driver will enable your product's basic functions to work. HP is committed to providing the best experience for HP products in the Windows Vista operating environment. You can conveniently find this driver in your Windows Vista operating system, today. At this time the driver will only be available on the Windows Vista operating system through the “Add a Printer? wizard there is an alternative for this

remove all the drivers from add and remove program then
click start, then "run" type regedit, hit enter Registry Editor will open up.
Make backup of you registry, then on left side drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
and check if you have "USB Monitor" key defined - If yes, you have different problem, this will not solve your problem. If not - right click on "Monitors" then click on new/key and name new key "USB Monitor" and then open this new key and on right side of the Registry editor under the (Default) right click select New - String Value this will create REG_SZ type value and name it "Driver" then double click to open it and in value data type "usbmon.dll"
Do the same thing to "Local Port" and "Standard TCP/IP Port" keys if you don't have them under Monitors key but you have them listed under AutorunsDisabled key. Then close registry editor, and restart, go to add printer/ local printer

Have just bought a new desktop with Win7 and a usb to parallel cable to connect to the LJ 5L, I installed but it wont print. any ideas as to what the solution is? Could it be the cable or is Win7...

Your printer supports W7 and the driver is located below. You need to first unplug the printer, uninstall it from the control panel and then restart the computer. Then download your driver and install it. HP printers need the Full Version software, not the just the driver that W7 loads when it discovers it.

Do NOT plug the printer back into the computer until prompted by the software.

Is it possible to connect an old, still very efficient HP 5L Laserjet Printer which uses parellel port cable to a new computer via a USB cable? If yes, what do I need?

Yes it is. You just need a Parallel to USB adapter. Here is a link to an example of what you need.

Parallel to USB

I have done this several times with Parallel Receipt Printers. Works Great!!

Another option would be to add a Parallel Port to your new computer. Here is another link.

PCI Parallel Card

The 1st option is probably the cheapest and easiest.

Good luck and have a great day!

Epson TM-T90 wont work with USB plug

I have the same problem...Epson does not work with a parallel to usb cable or adapter. If you still want to use this printer you will have to use the parallel port or change the interface on the printer to USB.

Lp 2844 will not work with my new laptop

You need a piece of software to create a Virtual com port, make sure you have the comms set correctly 9600, n, 8, 1 and print to that port, you will find it clearly marked in Device Manager. You can get a parallel to USB cable then you can use your driver set to LPT1

USB to Parallel connection (Panasonic KX-P1121)

I would recommend buying a Printer parallel port connection (PCI to LTP1), install it into the system, and use the printer parallel cable.

Cannot find vista drivers for my canon bjc-80, any help would be great.

Now that is a tall order. Finding drivers for a bubble jet printer. My best bet is that you'll need to contact the manufacturer of the printer and ask them if any such updates are available.

Vista do however have a large driver database.

Here is a link. Download and try. Do hope this help.

LaserJet 6L with Vista using Parallel to USB Cable

It can be done tested by Thoo personally 6L printer prints well on vista too
The printer end should be connected to 25 pin parallel cable, converted to the USB on the notebook end of the wiring
To solve your printing problems locate vista driver, since i have tested vista works fine on HP 6L printers
make sure you select the correct O/S and assign in to the USB virtual port 05

Roland vista problem

maybe you did not install it properly.try this turn off your cutter. plug the cable to you pc. make sure your pc is on. then turn on your cutter. then windows vista will detect new hardware then continue installation make sure you point to the correct folder. then you will see in the taskbar that says installed new hardware and ready in use. please install also the software bundled with the cutter. or if it support corel draw you can start designing and make sure that you put an outline on the object. example letter "t" put an outline on letter "t" and try plotting it. maybe this will help.

I have a Roland Camm-1 CX-24 cutting machine that has a parallel connection. I have recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1720 with a Windows Vista OS. I have a USB to Parallel cable to connect the two. I have...

connect the printer and the comp. and boot up....windows should recognize the new device.
did you add the plotter to "add printers" and its driver and to the correct port?
make sure your plotter is on and loaded and function key pressed.
also some cable manufacturers supply a driver...so download one if need be.
what software are you using? is the software cutter driver set to the correct printer and port?
(by default it never is)!!
