Refridgerator , works fine for a few days then it goes into defrost and does not come out until everthing thaws out. I had a new relay switch installed and that helped for about 3 weeks. Computer board located on the back top panel checked out ok. I am thinking that it is either the compressor or thermostat. Causing it to not come out of the defrost cycle.

Replace the defrost timer module.

Hi welcome to fix-ya. Sounds like a defrost problem. Do you have frost on back panel? If so Take a hairdryer and thaw the coil. If this fix works for you. You have a defrost problem. The hairdryer will buy 7-10 days You may need a new clock or board Sears will be the place to go I hope this helps.

Could be a problem with defrost heaters when it goes into defrost mode. Also could be problem with wiring to appliance. Try plugging into separate receptacle and see if you have problem.

you have a defrost problem, a bad defrost control, or defrost t-stat or possible bad heater. turn the ref off until it thaws out usually takes 24hours with the door open the plug it up and see if it stars working properly

Replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat in the freezer coils.

The auto timer in your Fridge is faultly and is not defrosting in the eight hour cycle. There could also be any wire detached from corrosion inside/within the freezer compartment that gives wrong signals to the the thermostat. You will have to remove the inside cover to confirm.check the wires to the heater/ failure of the heater. In case you are not able to do the work have this in mind and look into what the technician responds. take an estimate and move on.Helpful? good day

Looks like your defrost element is bad and needs replacement. Or if you can do a manual defrost and check if you are getting heat on the element. If there is heat, you can find a piece of copper wire and wind it around the element, leaving a trailing length of around two centimeters into the outlet drainpipe. By conduction this should keep the drainpipe clear.

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.

• possible causes:

1. bad defrost timer
2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
3. bad thermo switch in freezer

If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.
