I have an used acer 3000 laptop. When you turn it on it will run for about 10 to 15 minutes then a blue screen pops up and it reboots.... don't have time to see what the message is... When it reboots it says windows has incurred a fatal error and needs to reboot. How do I fix this.... took it to a repair shop and they said nothing was wrong with it. Any suggestions

Re: Blue Screen of Death
Here's a start....when it reboots, press F8 to get the safe mode screen. On it should be an option to disable automatic restart on error. That way, it won't restart when you get the BSOD and you can read what it is saying. I would start with making sure all drivers are up to date though.

Thats called the blue screen of death. Do you hear any clicking from the hard drive at all? Have you gotten it wet? Have you dropped it? This most likely is a result of hardware failure but can also be caused by malware. Do you have another computer with CD burning capability? You could burn a few hardware tests onto cds and test the memory and the hard drive. google memtest86 for a memory test and DFT or Drive Fitness Test for a hard drive test utility. These have to be booted to by the laptop.
That is called the "blue screen of death". Another words your system crashed. Did you download any software, music, drivers or screen savers? If anything, what exactly did you download. If you just opened a web site, sounds like your may have gotten a virus. Try restarting and try to boot into "safe mode". Run your anti-virus making sure you turn off system restore first and delete all internet temp. files/ cookies/ and history. Delete your recycle bin/ restart and see if that takes care of the problem.
If you still can't boot without the BOD, try doing a system restore to the point before this started. Make sure to turn sys. restore back on once you solve the problem. If the blue screen comes up again, as soon as you see it hit pause on your keyboard and write down what it says; especially the error code; 0x0000008 etc.
If you look on the key board cloured blue is the FN key and a monitor looking key. (remember coloured blue) press them similtaneously your external monitor should return. On my machine it is the FN key and F4 yours mabe the same. Please comeback and tell me how you got on.
