Monitor goes grey.

After a while of use, my monitor just goes grey. Sometimes on start up it will be grey. We'll be using it and it will just go grey. We can hear the sound and still type. when i adjust the monitor, it shows the main menu for the monitor, so I'm not sure its just that. Can you help?

It sounds like you have a faulty plug. Here are some things to look for Look in the plug itself for bent or (this ones the biggie) Pins that have been pushed in to the plug, Make sure they all line up evenly. On some monitors there is a setting for "Degausing" try that one. If you are plugged into a External video card meaning one that is not attached directly to the motherboard, Open the computer and make sure the card is seated properly. If it is a plug that is directly on the motherboard check to see if there are dust bunnies or dirt around the socket. A lot of household lint and dirt have metallic salts and can cause problems. Clean it only with aerosal air and nothing with any liquid cleaner. Good luck... Be mucho blessed...Mark

Monitor goes to sleep when I turn on my computer replaced the monitor replaced the graphic card replaced the cord from the monitor still goes to sleep sometimes it will start but then freezes up then back...

If it works intermittently then it's either a loose monitor data cable, loose monitor power cable, or loose graphics card. When you say it freezes up, I'm thinking most likely your graphics card is loose, make sure you screw it tight to hold it securely. The power must be off in order to be working with a graphics card. Also ground your body's static electricity to a non-painted piece of steel such as a desk to prevent shocking expensive hardware.

Wont boot/ says auto config over and over

Then use Recovery Console:
To boot from the Windows XP CD, insert it into the CD-ROMdrive on the problem system and press [Ctrl][Alt][Delete] to reboot thecomputer. Once the system begins booting from the CD, simply follow the promptsthat will allow the loading of the basic files needed to run Setup. When yousee the Welcome To Setup screen, press R to start the Recovery Console.

You'll then see a Recovery Console menu. It displays the foldercontaining the operating system's files and prompts you to choose the operatingsystem you want to log on to. Just press the menu number on the keyboard, andyou'll be prompted to enter the Administrator's password. You'll then findyourself at the main Recovery Console prompt.

After restarting windows use a system utility software like RegInOut.

Dear sir my samsung syncmaster 591s monitor's display darkened.... sometimes it ll comeback.....but nowadays it wont... kindly give a soln

There could be number of reasons, the main one being a power issue. There may be one or more bad capacitors on the circuit board. These can be replaced by someone who knows how to repair electronics but since this is a CRT monitor you need to be very careful about the dangerous voltages inside the monitor.
Considering the age of the monitor you are better off spending the money a decent LCD monitor.

I get a pop up with a RED CONTRAST screen every few minutes It sometimes goes away if I push the contrast button on my Dell monitor. but it will usually come right back. I have tried everything to stop...

You can try the monitor on another computer to verify it is the monitor and not the display card at fault.

I'm assuming this is an LCD monitor. If you are sure the monitor is the problem, then your monitor's display driver circuit is probably getting close to failing. When one of the three colors (red, green, blue) becomes intermittent, the screen takes on the hue of the working colors. In your case it sounds like the blue is starting to fail.

A repair technician may be able to replace the circuit.

Monitor goes black, with ghost lines of white. unplug and replug sometimes works sometimes does'nt. it's almost like it's burn out, or blown. pounding on the top works great, it comes right back on. this...

Its more or less your monitor has gone bad.
To check the same , unplug the monitor from the computer , a slef test feature check would be displayed . Check if the monitor goes blank or shows ghost lines . If yes the monitor is bad. If you have got the system before 12 Dec 2005 its generaly covered under 3 yrs warranty. If purchased after that , it would have your system warranty

My monitor won't start

There must be a connection problem from monitor to pc, check the pins to see if any are bent in the plug to the pc. If it is a seperate graphics card, check that it is seated correctly in the agp (brown) slot and not come loose. Try booting in safe mode (F8) on boot and select boot Windows in safe mode(this will run pc with normal vga driver and not the graphics driver), and see if it stays on, if it does it is a graphics card driver fault, so re install.
