Thanks Lumpy816. apologies for the delay in getting back to you, been a bit tied up. My wife (She is better at these things than i am!) had tried a couple of these things but not a few others (need to check the other end of the valves and borrow a volt meter).

we will get back to you once we have done so. We have a borrowed machine keeping us going for the moment

    Thanks again

Without a specific make and model it's tough to give you a specific answer, but here are some general guide lines for hot water trouble. First (and I know this may sound basic, but you'd be surprised) Make sure both your water valves are turned on. Some times the hot and cold get crossed or mislabels and people beat thier heads while they are actually looking at the wrong valve. If both have been turned on, you'll actually have to turn them off for the next step. Disconnect your fill hoses on both ends (the two more narrow hoses between the wall and your machine). On almost all brands of washers where the hoses connect to the back of the machine, there are two small screens. These screens are to help keep out small particulates in the water supply that can actualy cause your valves to jam open. If you have a build up on them, just clean them out with a tooth bursh or similar object. Now some brands of fill hoses also have thier own screens. So check both ends of the hoses to make sure you don't have the same problem with your hoses. Re-install the hoses. Do you have hot water now? The next thing you would have to check is the water valve itself. To do this you would need a volt or multi-meter. You would want to measure across the two wires that go to the hot water side of your fill valve, and make sure you have 120VAC. If you do have enough power there, you will probably have a bad valve. If your don't have enough power, you will likely have a bad water temperature switch. If you're still running into problems, message me back.

My fisher and paykel ecosmart gwl15 won't do a hot wash. although the hot wash is selected, the water remains cold. there are no error lights or beeps. Help!

There are several possible causes. To track down the problem, first shut off the water supply valve feeding the washing machine, then remove the hot water hose from the machine and direct it into a bucket. Turn on the water supply valve. Does water come out? Is it hot? If you only get cold water, then you need to insulate the pipe between the water heater and the supply valve so you get hot water faster (assuming the water heater is working!)

If you have a supply of hot water, then check the inlet screen where the hose connects to the washing machine. Perhaps it is clogged with lime or sediment. If it is clear, then you have a fault in the hot water solenoid valve or water temperature selector switch.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

Hi,

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

BElectric

You are better off swapping the valves over in the machine until you can buy a replacement valve. I've done this for a month or so until I replaced the valve. Works as long as you only use a cold wash and your cold water is not too cold as to make the machine want to add some hot. If it does this then simply press start to clear the fault.

Whirlpool washing machine...only uses hot water

Make sure the hoses are connected correctly to the water valve on the machine. The connections will be marked with an "H" and a "C".

Given they are correct, most current washing machines have and auto temp feature on the water fill. It allows even cold water settings to bring in some hot water to make sure the water temp is hot enough to efficiently disolve your laundry detergant. The preset temps are usually around 75* for cold, and 105* for warm. Hot water comes in at whatever temp your household water temp is.

What is the F20 error code?

F-20 error code in Whirlpool Duet Sport washing machine is indication of inadequate water supply. Check both hot and cold water supply lines to make sure machine gets enough water intake. If you do not have a hot water supply to the machine you can only run it with the cold temperature setting. This machine does not have an internal water heater and relies on the hot water supply from the house water heater.

Check to make sure the hot and cold water tap is turned on at the back of the washing machine, if there both on and working the water inlet valve could be defective.

Hot water not going into washing machine

hi there,
try the following, it may help:

Some washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently
allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual
if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:

* Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.

* Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.
