Question about Computers & Internet
If you mean mp3 devices and usb jump sticks? I run into this problem in my shop quite a bit. Most jump drives as well as mp3s or any other devices that plug into the usb port are powered by the port it self. The most common occurance is a failure on a particular device that shorts the usb framework. This framework is internally fused and needs to be troubleshot by a tech. Most shops that are worth their salt have a usb tester. I do not recommend you try testing it with a meter. most people that do this are what keeps me in buisness. One way to find out is they sell a small light that actually plugs in to the usb port for those of us that like to nite-type. This device will tell you if the ports are powered. If so you need to go to your device manager and check to see if your usb hub driver has been faulted. If so re-install the driver. Good luck...Be mucho blessed...Mark
