Re: wireless network adapter
There could be a problem with the adapter, a faulty connection in the cable or something else, or it could be your router.
The adapter only works with type A B & G routers. I know a few
people who have N routers and it wont work with them. 1st check to see
if your router is a typer A B or G then make sure that the wireless
signal is set to a frequency that the receiver can find usually channel
6 or so. 2nd, try disconnecting the adapter rebooting the console, then
reconnecting it with the power off. if all else fails, then it might be
that it is a bad adapter. Also if you use a wireless encryption, make
sure that you have the key entered in the wireless setting on your
console, and try using a WEP key as it is easier for the adapter to
read then WPA.

If this is the first time you have connected your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, you will probably be prompted to apply an update. If there are no updates, the Xbox Live Connection page shows that you're connected to Xbox Live. Press the Y button on your controller to continue.
If testing the Xbox it says DNS failed, then update your NETGEAR router firmware:
From your computer, open an Internet Browser and navigate to http://kb.netgear.com to download the firmware for your router.
Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
Click Router Upgrade on the top left pane under Maintenance, browse for the firmware downloaded and click Upload.
Check the status light on your adapter
The state of the adapter's status light indicator can tell you the
status of the Xbox 360 Wireless G Networking Adapter. Here's what the
different lights mean:
Steady green light: The adapter is connected to a wireless router, gateway, or access point. The adapter is ready to use.

Steady red light: The adapter is ready to be configured. For information on how to do this, please see:
How to configure wireless settings on your Xbox 360 console
Flashing red light: There is a problem. The adapter might be experiencing a hardware failure. Contact Xbox support.
The adapter is not receiving power. Unplug the USB connector and plug
it in again. Still no light? Try plugging the adapter into a USB port on
the front of the console.
On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
Select Network Settings.
Select Configure Network.
On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode.
wireless mode is not available and you are using the black Wireless N
Networking Adapter, try using the software installation disc included
with the adapter. For more information about how to do this, please see

If you can't connect to your wireless network, try improving your wireless signal using the tips in the following article: 909336
Your Xbox 360 console receives a weak wireless signal
Enter your wireless network password, and then select Done.
sure that you have entered the correct password. An incorrect password
might allow your console to connect to your wireless network, but you
might receive an IP address error when you test your Xbox LIVE
Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.
