Question about Toshiba Satelite 2410 Notebook

Open Question

USB keyboard number keys not working

Refers to Toshiba laptop Satelite 2410. When connected to usb keyboard (I've tried Mitsubishi and HP) the numerical keys to the right do not work properly when numlock is on. When using Excel, generally they do nothing but one of the keys (the 5 I think) repositions the cursor a number of cells right and down. When numlock is off they behave normally as cursor control keys. Both keyboards work perfectly well with other laptops and PCs.

I've tried upgrading the BIOS to no avail and cannot see any settings in the control panel that help.

Any guidance much appreciated. Thanks

Try several ways.
1st Put Usb Keyboard then confirm keys are working are not.
if desktop usb keyboard is working its mean Laptop keyboard is disabled from bios or keyboard cable not connected or keyboard damage or may be you have multiple language ( Try Left Shift+Alt).
2nd Replace with new keyboard.

Toshiba Satelite L515 - S4960 Keyboard, some keys not working, have tried System Restore unsucessfully (unsecified error ocurred) Please help

System restore won't do it. If it is only some keys not working and others are, unless you've added some shortcut keys it sounds more like a problem with the keyboard itself and would have to be replaced. Sometimes it maybe dust or grit that is under a key/s and the key isn't fully compressing and making contact. You can carefully blow it out lightly and check for hair- human or pet hair can also mess up the contact.

If you happened to spill something on the keyboard that would wreck the keyboard too....

Try a powered USB hub, this will boost the power in the USB curcuit.
Also ensure that in Device Manager, USB Root HUB, Power Management tab, that the option to let windows turn off the device is unchecked.
