You could be having a power issue. Make sure your batteries are charged, and that both the battery contacts on the battery and inside the camera are clean. Make sure your charger is putting out the correct voltage. If it's a couple of years old or older, the battery could be failing. You can order another one on the net, just google it and you will find many.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
i knoww cus i had took pictures on firday at dha skatinq rink with my freinds dhen saturday my camera wasnt workinq so then i decided to buy some new batteries, i bouqht some new batteries on monday & quess what it wouldnt stay on,! like it came on for like 5 sec dhen it shut off , i f**kinq hate dhat camera. !
This camera needs rechargeable batteries usually lasts about a week with much use. I thought what a waste of batteries then tried these rechargable and the situation hasn't occured . it is probably because it is small digtal camera which uses alot of power.
the beeping is the battery being dead but the black screen with random stuff sounds like the LCD panel is busted. i work at a repair shop and have the same problem with my samsung s630 major problem...lcd panel is not available anylonger for that model.
You probably don't have the batteries fully charged up. Also you will need to change battery type from alkaline to metal hydride in the "wrench2"(the last icon on the menu) menu. You did get metal hydride rechargeable batteries??? If you got nickel-cadmium rechargeables that might also be your problem with your camera as they don't have enough power.
