Question about Kenmore 53642 / 53644 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Water will not dispense

I have a Kenmore rerfrigerator Model 25359482990, and the ice maker is fine, but water will not dispense through the door. When I remove the filter housing and replace the water will pump out fine until the pressure builds up, then the water will no longer dispense. When I try to remove the filter again the filter cap is under alot of pressure and I can hardly remove. I then replace the filter cap, finger tight and the water works for a short time? If I leave the cap cracked then the water will continue to flow, until I tighten the cap. Your help is appriciated in advance, I am at my wits end.
Thanks,
Bob

This is a very strange case, maybe I mean Maybe you should drop a little pressure from the main water supply.tight the pressure regulator a little bit and try it.

Maybe I am wrong.

First the arm has to be in the down position. It sounds like you said theres water in the ice maker. If thats the case then it should have frozed. The ice cannot drop unless the ice maker heater comes on. Then the ice maker scoops the ice and drops into the resoviour thingy. If you have ice in the ice maker tray but no ice in the bucket then the ice maker is defective.

I have Kenmore frostless 25 with an ice and water dispenser in the door. It does not makes ice, but the water dispenser works fine. I could hear the ice maker switch bar moves up and down in the ice...

Most times it's the water control valve on the rear of refrigerator and near the floor. And you can test the ice maker by filling with water. Let it freeze and if it dumps the ice and does not refill then the water control valve. If the water freezes and nothing happens the the ice maker is the problem. If you had your model number I could tell you part numbers. Anyway try that and let me know your findings. Kenmore uses a model number like 312.54689 for example found on front near floor and behind the fresh food section door. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

Kenmore side by side water dispenser has stopped

Most likely need to replace the water inlet valve. The water supply line should be directly connected to it. There are 2 valves bracketed together, 1 for the ice maker and 1 for the water dispencer. You will probably have to buy both valves, but want to do this anyway as the second valve will fail soon. Hope this helps.

Ice maker filter

No, they do not. If the ice is old it can absorb taste from the air. You can also buy an in-line filter for your unit. Hope this helps!

No water but ice is fine

remove the filter and reinstall , it may not have seated into the filter housing it will take a little while to fill the filter cartridge as you hold in the water paddle

you also may have a water valve problem, something in the water valve that goes to the water in the door that is not allowing the water to come through the valve

No water going to the ice maker

Is the sensor that senses a full ice bin clean....it is a little light or it is a lever. If is thinks your bin is full it probably won't run water. There is a separate valve for the ice maker. It may be bad or have a bad connection on it.
