On the underside of the handle there is a black switch that you have to slide to the left or right with your thumb before squeezing the green button with the palm of your hand. The handle hinges over and folds flat on top. Look on the left for a dangling clip, it snaps onto the frame to lock into compact stage so you can safely pick it up. Another hint, tuck the front of the storage pouch underneath under the thin metal bar and clip the straps underneath so it doesn't drag the ground and snag... I Just picked one up today at a resale store and spent about an hour testing it out. Love it! Good luck.
