Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer

Kenmore Elite HE3 fills but won't spin

The cycle begins by spraying water and then the minutes just tick down as the machine keeps trying to spin. I can hear it wind up and wind down but nothing happens.

It does not make any sound, like ticking and I have to close the door just to hear the faint winding up sound. It fills with water (spray) then sits there and every 30 sec. or minute it winds up but the drum does not move.

Make sure the lid is closed. There is a switch inside that
    completes
the connection. Your washer may not spin or agitate if this connection
is not completed. Make sure that the speed selector switch is not
between speeds. Verify that the washer is not in a soak cycle. You can
also reset the water level up or down to make sure that the water level
control switch isn't stuck. If you hear a humming sound when the washer
is full of water, you may have something stuck in the drain pump.

If one of these is not the problem, check the belt. The main
    drive
motor has two distinct functions. The first function is to spin the
basket; the second function is to reciprocate your agitator. Inside
your washer's transmission is a crank type gear and connecting rods
that are used to agitate the washer, with the spinning coming from the
washer motor itself. This usually entails some sort of clutch
mechanism. Some things to check if your washer is not agitating and/or
    spinning are:

If you notice weak or no agitation, the splines connecting the
agitator to the drive shaft may be stripped and need to be replaced.

After a lot of use, belts can become worn or damaged. Replace
    any
worn or damaged belts immediately. If you have a broken belt, replace
it and check the pulley to make sure it's not seized.

Sometimes the drive pulley can wear out and it won't turn the
    drive
belt. Look for wear marks, pits, or uneven spots. It's best to just
replace it with a new pulley.

Many washers use a reversing motor. Sometimes it will continue
    to
work in one direction even if it won't spin in the other direction. If
your washer has a drive motor issue, you probably need to replace the
motor with a new one. Call a professional appliance repair person to
    verify this first.

The lid switch is a safety device that's there to protect you
    from
sticking your hands into a spinning washer. If this switch goes bad,
the washer will not work. You will have to replace it. It is inside the
main housing for the washer, and located near the door frame.

The coupler connects the motor to the transmission. After
    lengthy
use, this plastic and rubber coupler can wear out. If this happens, you
    need to replace it.

Transmission and clutch assemblies can cause agitator and
    spinning
problems They are fairly complex, so if you suspect you have
transmission or clutch issues it's probably in your best interest to
call a professional appliance repair person.

Have old kenmore elite he3 washer. Have wet laundry after spin out. Have checked ball be low drum, replaced strainer, pump motor, cleaned all hoses. Did a test run in the drain and spin cycle. For like 7...

If the washer is taking more water during spin, then most likely it is thinking the water level is low for the load. It is a smart washer and tries to adjust water according to load. This can mean the level sensor is giving wrong sensor. I would try to run the washer with a cleaning agent (not bleach) available from specialist stores or washing machine retailers.
Also observe if the drain pump is running all through the spin cycle. If not that is likely causing water to remain. But controller is thinking there is no water and not starting the pump when required.

Kenmore Elite HE3 Error FH I forgot to turn the water hoses on when I started a load. The FH error sounded at 33 minutes of a 45 minute cycle. I can't reset the machine now. It is stuck. It is unplugged....

according to kenmore, you should press the "pause/cancel" button twice and it should release it.  it may also have locked up the CCU, central control module and might need to be replaced.

Kenmore Elite HE3 front loader F-11 and FDL codes

yes!! the F/11 is triggered under high voltage conditions like high speed spinning. The part is called the MCU motor control unit. if it goes into failure while using your machine and locks the door, just wait 3 minutes and the door will unlock after the MCU resets. Try using you machine with a low speed spin for awhile.

Shutting down on rinse cycle

Hi this could means that you may need to replace the washing machine bearings. Once the bearings are bad, the motor overheats and it will automatically shut down after the first rinse.

The inlet valve will need to be replaced. Its a fairly simple procedure and a pretty inexpensive part.
