Question about Maytag MDG7757AW Gas Dryer
We have a Serviceguard plan and they have been out 3 times to try and fix the problem without success. They have replaced the ignitor, sensor and sensor pad. They said there is nothing else to replace, but it still doesn`t heat up.
There are always more parts to replace. From the sounds of it though, it sounds like one of your gas coils are going out. Normal gas dryer opperation is your unit will heat up, cool down, heat up, cool down, etc thorugh the course of the cycle. Usually when one of your coils are going out, it sticks after the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd cycle and the gas will no longer come out. So the cycle will continue just without heat. Another less likely possibility is that you have a restriction in your ventalation causing one of your heat safeties to open and not let the machine heat for most of the cycle. This can generally be checked just by placing your hand under the vent hood outside where your dryer vents to. You should feel air pressure on your hand while the unit is running. If there is not pressure or you are hearinf some whisling noise, it might be restricted in which case you'll need to have your vents cleaned/ repaired. Now since you are going through an extended warranty company, here's a couple other thoughts. They contract companies to provide service to thier customers. Do they have another authorized company in your area that can look at it? Do they have any kind of lemon or excessive repair policy? Many companies will replace a unit after so many repairs in a given time frame.
