Are you using the correct drivers for Vista or just the disc you used before?

Download the latest Vista drivers from here (32bit)

If you have Vista 64 bit just change the system in the drop down menu.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install :
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the sofware asks for the printer connect it and continue

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your scanner with a clean install.

Do yo have the original disc? if not you can go to this site for a download of your scanner driver.

Here is how to do a clean download and install:

If you have the disc or when you have located the correct driver for your machine, please do a clean download and install as follows:

Uninstall the previous software.
Turn off the machine and unplug it
Turn off all your running programs including your virus control
(look in the lower right corner and click on each little icon there and turn off everything you can)

Insert your disc for a new install
>>>If you don't have the disc-Now download the driver and SAVE it to your desktop
Click on it to install and follow the directions carefully.<<<<< When installation is finished, if it has not told you to reconnect your printer, do so now.
Restart your computer.

hi.. try and uplug the printer from the pc, reboot then reconnect..
if this doesn't work, try uninstalling the printer software if you still have the original disc that came with it for the drivers..
if not disc, go to the manufacturer's website, www.pixma.com, and search for that driver download.. let me know if this helps..

Did you both (all users with same issue) competely uninstall the printers before trying to reinstall. Old entries in registry can cause conflicts if you try and reinstall same programs. I use a program called rev unistaller, which lists all programs on pc, even ones you thought were gone!!! IT uninstalls selected ones, then has options to get rid of hidden left over files.
Once no trace remains, try reinstalling your printer with original disc. If you have no disc, try to download the drivers again from lexmark. Email them for assistance if it will not download. Unnacepted disc is either a conflict in OS you now have, or above driver conflict. The disc may also be corrupted or dirty or damaged. Try copying the disc to a blank one and try installing printer off copy, this can get around some errors. Also, try cleaning it first. Good luck

well i had the same problem but i suggst to do as the following to see if your problem could be solved you can try to restart the the 1210 or you didnt connect the usb cable rigth cause after you connect the usb cable you need to put in the deskjet disk that came with the 1210 and follow the directions from the wizard.

"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" If you are getting one of the above error messages:

• Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc.
  • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
  • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

I have had the same problem when I went to redo my Windows Vista Machine. The answer is simple. Install the software from the installation disc that came with your printer. Next go to lexmark.com and download the driver package for your printer and install that. Now a window should pop up asking you if you want to install over the original or make a copy, MAKE A COPY.. After installation is done open lexmark studio and pick to open the copy version and there you go, you can now use your lexmark studio, and for some reason after you open the program once like this the original one works!!!!!!!!
