It 's easy to do and fairly cheap. Your machine will hold 2g of memory. Here's a link with the best prices I could find for memory for your machine.

Hp dv 2000 it seems like go slow

Try two Freeware programs , 1, CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program has many useful tools. The cleaner and Registry cleaner will remove the junk that accumulates in the computer over time and frees up disk space. In the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs. 2, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Disable ALL toolbars from your web browsers, they are killers on browser speed. Hi,

Unfortunately, you are limited to 1GB of memory, I have a storeroom full of 610s, 810s, and 9100, with the same limitation. With a fast processor above 1.5 megahertz and running nothing higher than Windows XP, you won't miss the lack of memory unless you open up five or more tabs on your browser.

HP has lots of material concerning memory, etc. on these older units. CLICK HERE

Slow laptop dv 9208 w vista

If you're having Vista, you will need 1gb RAM minimum. Vista is resource intensive, concentrated more on graphics, and a lot of Hardware compatibility issues. Windows XP is fine and better as of now which runs great with 1GB of ram and a pretty processor of 2.0 ghz ...If you think of speeding up ur lappy better go for XP .increasing ur RAM will increase the number of apps that you can run productively at a time.

Add memory to HP/Compaq nc6000?

Yes you should increase the memory. XP runs suitably well at 512mb. At 1GIB it blazes.

The memory meter is pegged because it is having to use the Harddrive as ram (Swapfile) which is 1000x slower than RAM.

XP with nothing on it, straight from the factory will run with 256, but after 3-6 months of use, and adding applications it will get progressively slower.
